Poor Boys RC 56 Posted November 16, 2023 I'm excited to be here, thanks for adding me into the group. I'm your typical mid-40's Tamiya lover that grew up in the golden era of RC and couldn't afford any of them, lol! In the past 5 years my collection has really started to flourish and it's even grown into a successful YouTube channel, Facebook group, and we're still evolving. I love sharing my passion for Tamiya and even some Kyosho's when ever I can. I'm looking forward to spending time here. Cheers, Fil a.k.a Poor Boys RC

BuggyDad 6588 Posted November 16, 2023 Welcome! I watched your vid the other day on the BBX. Thanks! Nice interesting paint scheme. I'm building a bit of a custom left field version myself.

I've gone a little crazy with my BBX videos, that buggy has really blown me away, I just can't stop driving it. Hahaha. What's your plan for your color scheme? I'd better have a look at more of your videos then! I am still making my mind up on colour scheme but one idea I've seen and like is to fill in the rear panel with scrap lexan. There are some lovely paint schemes out there (I like a lighter blue but otherwise a box art idea), but I might just go a bit weird with mine (and buy a second shell after I mess it up). Mine is modded to increase track width by 20mm for a sort of wider, lower style, so I think it'll suit going a bit off piste.

I've actually assembled a BBX Playlist with 8 videos in there at this point (more to come, I'm sure). YouTube won't give me a link to the playlist for some reason, but next time you're on my channel, check the playlists and you'll see it there. Plenty of BBX inspiration to run with. Good luck with your build, it sounds great!

Did your BBX survive unscathed that hard landing you did a slo-mo repeat of in the skatepark one? About 1:55. If the BBX didn't break anything there then I guess it's pretty tough?
Poor Boys RC 56 Posted November 17, 2023 That was a hard hit! The BBX took it like a champ. The only thing I've damaged on it has been the diff, but the funny thing is, I had a Yeah Racing gear diff sitting on my wall that I was going to use in another buggy. I put it in the BBX instead, figuring the gear diff would be tougher than the kit supplied ball diff. Man, was I wrong. I damaged a sun gear on my first run at the beach, then replaced the internals with the locker mechanism. I broke that at the skate park. So since then, I've installed the kit supplied ball diff, and run a couple packs through it with no issues. Other than that, no breakage whatsoever. It's a tough buggy! So which diff did you break before fitting the YR one? The Tamiya alternative TA-06 gear diff? I've fitted the kit ball diff in mine to try that first, but also the slipper. Hopefully having the slipper will make life easier on the diff.

I've fitted the kit ball diff in mine to try that first, but also the slipper. Hopefully having the slipper will make life easier on the diff. It was the Yeah Racing diff that I broke, this one, specifically: https://www.yeahracing.com/50t-and-52t-gear-differential-set-for-tamiya-m07-m08-xv01-ta06-tamc-040-00078861 I purchased it with intent to drop it into a TD2, but then I decided not to get the TD2, so I just had it sitting around as a spare. When I bought my BBX and went to assemble it, I did some research (since I've got a bad track record with ball diffs) and discovered the YR diff would fit in the BBX. Perfect! So I built the BBX from the ground up with the YR diff. At the end of the day, I think the BBX should be run with a slipper clutch. Just that added protection on big hits.
