BigWig Aluminum Chassis

Recommended Posts

A known weak-spot for these cars is that ABS chassis. I saw these aluminum chassis by Kingly all over eBay, and am wondering how one might work for the BigWig...anyone here have 1st hand experience with one? It is a little odd to see the HotShot pictured with the item; assuming it is a direct replacement & doesn't require any mods to fit...asked the seller for clarification there. Thank you!

Expensive aluminum bits like that are best kept to the shelf, they add a lot of weight to the drivetrain and replacing one won't be cheap.

Unfortunately, OEM replacements (along with the kit itself) are unavailable.

To be honest, I never knew the plastic chassis of the Hotshot series or the Bigwig in particular, to be a weak spot. The battery door on the Boomerang and Super Sabre maybe, but not the chassis. Then again, I haven't run a Bigwig extensively, just the boxed Hotshot chassis. Does the aluminum chassis pictured have a way for the rear body mount "hook" to attach? How does the rack and pinion steering work with the chassis pictured? Like @Kowalski86 suggested, I usually stay away from aftermarket aluminum stuff like this. What grade is the aluminum? Is it tempered? RC10 gold tubs went through an extensive process to get them as good as they were and Kyosho rereleases do a good job with their aluminum quality. This Bigwig chassis? I don't know. I went with a Factory Works fiberglass chassis for my Hotshot build. I think they make a Boomerang chassis but I don't know about the Bigwig.

I have their Lunchbox and Grasshopper chassis and can certainly vouch for the quality. They are a perfect fit and super stiff. I've run the Lunchbox loads, and absolutely love it. I wouldn't be concerned at all about the small amount of additional weight. I also have one waiting for my Wild One build as I've broken three Wild One/FAV chassis over the last few years. Nothing else on them has broken, so hoping the aluminium chassis will make it into a bombproof runner.

And, I think they look amazing (not my build):

I don't have any pics unfortunately. I built it last year and my brother decided it to buy it from me. I have another one that I'm going to build over the winter along with a UK Monsters double wishbone kit.

However, you can see the chassis build from Poor Boys RC here:

Fantastic, thank you for the link.

Chassis’ extenders?

Camber correction kit?

Will you be doing a build thread for yours?

Yep. I'm hoping to start it when I'm off work at Christmas. I've got all the UK Monsters goodies, the alu chassis, Hot Racing alu gears, yellow CVA's... Looking forward to it.

Amazing, sounds like the ultimate LB.

I’ll be following your build without a doubt 👌

I love the LB chassis - but I don't have a stock - out of the box - chassis they are all heavily modded in one way or another  . I would love to build a runner with the alu chassis - looks interesting . The B-H W/O looks great BTW .

I haven't tried the BigWig chassis by Kingfly just yet, but I have tried several others. Shout out to Toyolien for sharing my CW01 video, cheers dude!

I've installed the Kingfly aluminum chassis' on: CW-01, Grasshopper/Hornet, Sand Scorcher and Monster Beetle. All of them are nothing short of amazing! The build quality is outstanding, the powder coated black is especially nice, in my opinion. At times I've stalled out due to instructions being a little vague, but you'll figure it out. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the BigWig chassis if you're interested.
