That above link does need qualification.

i.e. it's specifically about an apparently bad batch of Carson Paint Killer that also covers the topic that it's either the same or linked to the Tamiya stuff.

You should not read it as that the Carson Paint Killer eats shells. I have nothing in this either way, but I have successfully used the Carson stuff as have others.

I use the Revel stuff which looks, smells, tastes exactly the same as the Tamiya PC cleaner with the purple lid, functions exactly the same too and you can get it in Hobbycraft in the uk. Both require herculean effort and many years to strip a complete shell though but great for shifting small amounts of overspray using a cottonbud.

Tastes???

You've never been tempted?

(I ocasionally lick the paint brushes to get a point on them when applying it in tight corners - it tastes exactly like it smells by the way. Not unpleasant!)

Well, I admit to having licked paint brushes too - probably not the best idea but hey it's thirty years ago and whenever I see a small dwarf waving from under the kitchen table I just keep calm and wave back. ;)
