Odds of a 2011 avante re re re

Hi all

I had 2 cars on my radar that are my holly grail.

The 2011 avante and the optima mid

The mid was easy to get from last year's re re.

The 2011 avante is probably out of stock everywhere and has some listings on ebay for double to triple the og price.

The black avante is not for me and I don't want to buy it and then start putting other body paint and search for the yellow wheel etc.

So, in short, it seems to me like Tamiya likes to have some sort of avante in stock all the time.

What are the chances of a 2011 re re re? Based on official info, inside info or other info you guys have?

Or is your guess as good as mine....

A couple of sites here in the UK have it showing as "on order", but they've been like that for months.  It could well be a website error, or wishful thinking, or they have some inside info?

My own guess, and it is a pure guess, is that we'll see it at some point in the next year or two.  I really hope so, as it's one of two left on my "want to have" list alongside the Bigwig.

I hope they don't count the black one as something that will postpone the 2011 one

The Black Special has had two or three batch runs over the last couple of years, and it's still readily available, so I can't see Tamiya doing any more runs of that in the near future.

I'm thinking, like the regular Egress, the regular Avante will be back although the last run was only in 2020.  However, it's a cash cow so why not!

I believe I saw the egress og is coming shortly (I hope I am not mistaken) so maybe the avante will follow suit

You're not mistaken, the original Egress is due back in February

As said, a fair few shops have the 2011 on back order/coming soon. I was waiting for it, but presumed it was just a mistake, and went for an Avante Black Edition (controversially I prefer the Black Editon). I think if a re re was coming Tamiya would annouce it, like they have with the Egress coming in Jan

@gkatz  Unless you have budget to spend extra money on one, I would just sit tight for a year or so.. they do seem to come around after some time.  

Which kind of defeats the purpose of owning one of these imho.. because it's hardly a collector car if anyone can just buy one.  Tamiya's been kind of playing a game at the expense of collectors.   Or collectors like me are just dumb thinking these cars are supposed to be special..  I think the latter is what's going on, really.

Yep, once confirmed by Tamiya that it's coming the usual shops and blogs and YouTube channels will announce it.

The Egress was the same around 12-18 months ago, then the Black Edition landed (the rumours may have known that an Egress was coming but not a new Black Edition) then the original was announced recently.

I think we might see the original Avante make a re-appearance within the next 12 months.
