Hey all, help required please.

So I've been doing up my lunchbox, I've stripped it down and built it back up.. I've also update to an ESC and sport tuned motor.  Now, before I put it all in I tested and all works fine, since putting the motor in, it spins but I get zero drive from the wheels...?? What am I doing wrong? I've been told to check the set up of the pinion, but apart from a "piece of paper' on the original instructions,  I can't find any other reference. Just seems the motor doesn't engage...

Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you using the motor spacer? Make sure thst you have that installed, and that it's facing the correct direction. It can be difficult to setup sometimes.

You should consider using blue loctite on the grub screw, the torque of the Lunchboxes setup can throw the grub screw loose.

Excuse my ignorance but by motor spacer,  you mean the large black piece that fixes to the motor before that is fixed to the gear housing? If so, yes...

I'll look to get some loctite, cheers...

That be it. Try installing the motor without the "cap" on the other end just to see how the mesh looks.

Be sure to avoid getting any loctite on the plastic, loctite makes plastic turn brittle very easily.

Try re-tightening the grub screw on the pinion for sure and make sure all the gears are in there and connected.  Trace the route of the motor power through the car, spininning parts by hard with the motor disconnected if need be :)

There's a spacer inside the gearbox that sometimes gets forgotten, the one that slides on the axle inside the gearbox to prevent the gears from touching. Also the differential pin,

The most likely cause is the loose pinion though.

Check your underpants first.

If anything bad has happened to your underpants?, then it's the spacer, if your underpants are still good, it's the pinion come loose. See manual above.

As Kowalski86 said I always take the end cap off so you can check that it is meshed properly, I have found it can be tricky to make sure that the plastic motor mount that is attached to the motor first fits properly up against the gearbox, if not it doesn’t mesh properly. Also I have found the instructions are not always correct depending on the motor you use, as I had the same issue you are describing when I rebuilt mine. This is why I have found that it is much easier to remove the cap on the gearbox and adjust the pinion as necessary

Where did you find the original R & D drafts for the English version Lunchbox manual ?

Some say that Tamiya manuals are the best in the world, but I'm sure they haven't subscribed to my comic subscription service which is still accepting applications by the way!!.  Or read the most epic build manual ever!.

Build your own monster truck that actually drives by remote control without the premium price that these build your own subscriptions usually charge, as well as not having to worry about missing a part because you went on holiday and missed your monthly magazine from the newsagents. We went ahead and didn't even write that issue. Another problem solved.

Subscribe to comical ways to kill Coronavirus and for this month only you will receive absolutely free, a feeling of warmth and wellbeing as well as the imaginary free gift.

Well thankfully, the issue was on my part, the meshing was completely out, so with a bit of adjustment, we now have a running back end.  Just need to sort the servo saver and we are fully mobile.  Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.

What ESC you using I have a ST motor but have nil power to it from my Tamiya ESC.  Tried 2 other motors with same result so starting to think I need a new ESC.
