Tamiya Avante

Gday All

 Chris here from Brisbane Australia. I had a super shot and an Avante when I was a young fella and my parents binned them when I moved out.  I have been able to track down a release super shot and had a ball building it. I have been watching a  Tamiya Avante 2011 on eBay for $950 and, I was going to pull the trigger, but decided to search for the Tamiya kit number 58489 on google and found a listing for one at a Hobby shop in Sydney, I messaged the shop and they said they are available for pre order and it’s due in march 2024. Can anyone else confirm if they have heard the Avante 2011  is coming back ?

i am not connected in the industry like the sydney shop but I can say there has been zero info regarding a rere of this kit...
so either the sydney shop is sharing a top secret or they just have wishful thinking.

in your situation I would not put a pre order - its sketchy imho.

when you say 950$ do you mean usd or aud?...

There's been no official word from Tamiya but I would hang on before paying over the odds for a NIB kit as I feel a re-run is coming.

1. Tony's Tamiya Parts (big global parts seller here in the UK) indicated this week that one of the Avante parts (19005271 - A-Parts) is due a re-run in the near future.
2. Tamiya will be re-releasing the original Egress next month after producing the Egress Black Edition since 2022.  The Avante Black Special has been kicking around for a couple of years too so I think they may follow suit with the regular Avante.
3. A few shops in the UK have the Avante listed as "on order", although to be fair they have for a while e.g.

It's your call of course, but you may not want to miss out rather than listening to the ramblings of a stranger on the internet!

Im not for a second suggesting that Im in the know but for the record, The Avante 2011 has been showing on `back order’ for as long as I can remember on Modelsport here in the UK, so if funds allow, Id just go for the original

man thats a tough call. its very subjective.

on one hand i got one for 450usd last month nib in an auction... and also there might be a rere coming like you suggest

but on the other hand both you guys are from australia so shipping and customs are neglegable and the premium the guy asks is not on the greedy side imho.

again, very subjective... i guess to each his own...

BTW, you can always contact the seller andmaybe  close a better price...

I went to make an offer , But someone had already made a bid , I bid $10 more and won the auction. 

I finally have an Avante 2011, well I will once it’s delivered
