Few hours of "decaling" later...

Body's wheelbase is a bit off (and I still have to mount that rear steering servo "behind the axle"), but I think I'm happy, with that orange marrying the sunset light well :)

First time I try to accentuate the panels lines! Tough job I found, steady hand needed! Before using a thin black pen, I "carved" the lines with a self-tapping screw. Gosh, I was nervous.

Finished the body-posts, today.

Seems that Monster Trucks by Tamiya is a family affair :)

First Run Yesterday. Sorry for the noise of those gigantic tires rubbing wheel arches! I'll need to trim them soon. Also definitely needs a fan on the TEU-106BK. Super fun truck. Glad I have it now :)

Tires are Golden Years from Jconcepts. As brilliant as their price, but clearly a step above "normal" tires & foam. Also really help the overall dampening/handling of the truck :)

Cool thread, i built an Agrios and used the Xtreme Juggernaut behind-axle servo mounts i got from ebay, that with removing the bumpers, Jconcepts wheels/tyres and better shockies make it look so much better. It is a really cool-looking truck once you do these mods.

The servo mounts do require a bit of work to fit properly without the tie rods clashing with the suspension but it is definitely worth it. I'll put some pics up of mine later

I got the ideas to mod this truck from some of the builds i saw here, very inspiring!

The (Brother driven) TXT-2 is really a good jumper. The Juggernaut also, but it's more difficult to go straight with it :)

No transmission were harmed during the making of the film. Only one polycarbonate body, but it's designed for this purpose, right?

Hello,

Went back to a 8 shocks setup, finally. After the last run depicted above, found out that there's a lot of stress/forces on only 4 shocks, hence they do leak a bit more than usual, and the preload collars just pop out after a few jumps.

Had to use the 18mm length spacers included with the rims instead of "normal" 11mm that 4-shocks setup allowed to avoid the tires rubbing the springs. New stance, with wider tracks:

But now I need to upgrade the front steering servo, 6kg isn't enough anymore. You never stop spending money on those big machines!

Hello!

Just bought some new tires for the TXT-2:

spacer.png

I like all the details & the scale look, and they're super cheap right now: 16$ instead of 35+ . 2.6 inches in mounting diameter, but oddly only 140mm outside diameter (maybe they don't sell well because of this "small" size)

As I find that 160mm OD tires (or more) are a bit hard to handle for the TXT-2, I'll try these instead.

Where did you get them?   I know a few guys who got them for that price when they clearanced them a few months back, but haven't seen any for that price since.

I'm afraid they're out of stock, now. I ordered (08/16 in the night, European time) from their website directly, but at this price the sale must have been quite short. :/

First picture:

The Juggernaut inherited of the JConcepts tires, for a more classic look (?). And the Agrios with the new Michelin MegaXBib. Actually, they're 145mm in diameter. And super wide, wider than the JConcepts ones .

Had to widen the TXT-2 track at the time for the Golden Years not to rub the shocks/springs, now I may try to reduce it a bit as the MegaXBib are "smaller" if one can say.

56 minutes of M2.5 wrenching (and blisters on my fingers) later:

Prefer it this way (-14mm overall width) :)

I've enjoyed reading the custom upgrades you've made on your truck. They really look good and well made! Thank you for sharing. :)

Thanks! :) But now I need some advice from you Guys I think...

Recently updated steering servos and BTA mounting plates on the TXT-2. Drag links are much more parallel to the main steering rod, which I like from a mechanical perspective :)

Did not change the design much, except I added some Tamiya stars for fun, but I switched for Low Profil Sävox servos, 18kg.cm each @8.4volts.

They work great, are a bit noisy as all Sävox I know, but they're a bit hungry for the TEU-106BK BEC system of the ESC.

Would you know Guys an ESC for twin-parallel brushed motors (Sport Tuned in my truck) with a 7.2v or 8.4v BEC?

Pretty sure that the Hobbywing 880 would do the job, but the BEC output is rated @6volts. It's a detail, but I'd prefer some higher voltage, as I run with 8.4volts battery packs.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Run a HW 1080, it'll give you 7.4v BEC.  I run the 1080 on my Sport Mod race trucks - dual 17t brushed Reedy motors.

Thanks a lot, Sir. In this case I guess I'd better prepare for some soldering and programming card buying action :)

I know Hobbywing is very nice especially for the price. Don't they have any worthy competitors these days?

For brushed systems I don't think there's anyone else around these days to be honest.  I use the HW 1080 in nearly everything, even dual motor vehicles.  Just requires some soldering/wiring as you said.

The 1080 came with a program card in the past, I think they stopped doing that with the recent updated version.  I think I have 30-40 of those cards from buying the old ones.

Once again, Thanks to Sir @87lc2. My TXT-2 works perfectly fine now, with the 1080 from Hobbywing. No BEC fault anymore.

And good news, the TFU-01 fan from Tamiya that I got previously for the TEU-106BK is a direct fit on the 1080.
