They are half the price of the Tamiya ones and hook up pretty well. I used them on my micro buggy when racing on astro and they provided very good grip.

Thanks! Did you compare them to standard or soft Tamiyas?

There were rallyblock clones a few years back that were even softer and gripped extremely well, but they disappeared and I'm looking for a replacement since then... Tamiya soft blocks are pretty close, but something softer would be even better.

These have been out for years, I've never tested them against the Tamiya ones so can't say.

They are softer than the Tamiya M chassis rally tires. Carten also offer another M chassis rally tire however they are hard to get in the UK. Mainland Europe seem much easier.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

I've seen those, but I think they are more for dirty asphalt, than dirt track

Mine is already in the country since yesterday evening, will probably be delivered Monday or Tuesday as I'm in the office those days...

They've also listed the M07 hubs and compatible @Honza!

Cool, thanks for the info! Now I wonder who's gonna make the first M-07/8Ra? 😁

The XM-01 Pro manual is now available for download on the Tamiya Germany website. You can find it in the download area further down the page:

Awesome, and it's a vector file, that'll be useful :)

I've been playing around with a few different mud guard designs to offer more protection and be a little bit more robust.

It looks nice, but does it have enough space above the wheel when it's compressed? It looks lower than the stock guard. Also, it might be good idea to keep it more open on the rear, to reduce build-up.

Anyone bored enough to measure the distance between the suspension pins for me? Got a whackadootle idea in my head...

I cannot measure, but if this guide is still correct, for XV type blocks, the widths are as follows:

XJ (all except the inner rear) - 34,75mm

XM (inner rear) - 32,5mm

XH (the adjustable option) - 36,25mm with center blocks, each position changes width by 0,75mm, narrowest setting being XJ equivalent.

Yeah, brain fart. Soon as I realized they were using standard suspension blocks and not some new M-chassis unique standard (I was worried about the spacing between the mounting screws) it was just a matter of doing the math. Conveniently enough, the bulkheads on a 416 (and I'd assume later TRF cars a swell) is 34mm... so methinks a TRF416 M-Four just slotted itself into my To-Do list this summer :)

I'm afraid that's still a bit too wide, if XM mounts are 32mm, you'll need around 24mm to fit between the arms (assuming the arm end is 8mm in diameter). XV-01 gearbox, which is designed around those mounts, is 20mm wide.

I found an old Sand Viper body while cleaning up. Now I'm wondering if it would fit on the XM01. I put it on my 239mm MB01 as a test. It could be adapted, I think. Are there even m-chassis buggies?

L&L 959 body on, a bit of reshaping on the wheel arches and it should look fine. Then to the task of painting the shell. Last time I painted a 959 shell was a very long time ago I think I was 14 with better eye sight and a steadier hand 😆

I secretly regret the GR Yaris route. Once both of these shells are abused I think I'll go down the 959 route.

It is alive 😃

I’ve gone brushed for now with a 22t Kyosho motor & a HW 1060 for ease, it also works perfectly as a shorty battery retainer. Clipped off the Tamiya plug and soldered Battery Posts straight on.

Taking it for a quick spin outside before the sun went down it’s a good fun little car. With the wheels off my MO6 Giulia on it (grippy ones on the front) it kinda reminds me of the very nimble Flipper Robots on Robot Wars darting all over the place & turning on the spot on the exposed aggregate surface 👍🏻
