Would be my choice

Dang… when I just made up my mind with the roof 🤣😂

I still haven’t drilled the rear holes yet though.

Roof posts would support the body better if you are rolling the car.

When I built mine I was thinking about that too and decided for the variant according to the manual, because my NSU Prinz TT has the same holes. As well as the Citroën DS that I eventually order in the future. 🙂

The L&L (team C) mini body is probably the best out there (still not as good as the OG Tamiya one). The Phat one is ok however not that realistic IMO and avoid the ones with windscreen wipers moulded in as they are 💩

You could also go for a lancia stratos?

With the surge in M-chasiss bodies and Tamiya recently releasing a few new Porsches for the1/10 cars let's hope we'll see a Tamiya 959 for M chassis cars shortly.

I'd still rather they re released the original mini over anything else 😕

Im aware the M-01 Mini Cooper with the plastic grill is rare as unicorn poo, but can you get the M-03 ones at all?

You can however it will set you back about £100. If you intend to use the XM-01 I'd suggest the L&L one then maybe look to source an original and keep it for the shelf?

Has anyone in the states who pre-ordered an XM-01 received the kit yet? They seem to have reached all the other corners of the world...except us.

Im a little bit confused here and I think Ive ran before I can walk.

Ive ordered an L&L 959 Body, and a set of their 3D Printed wheels. I got the notification that this was back in stock so jumped at it.

Now I dont have chassis for it. Would this XM-01 Pro be an option? If so what tyres? Or do I just go for a MF01X Jimny like everyone else? I know I need to research the driveshaft?

thanks

MF01X

Having owned both you can't compare the two, the XM-01 is miles ahead.

Finally cut out the fiddly inner mud guards. Care and patience is definitely needed for the rears 😅

As they are cut around the body posts that could be the deciding factor to use the kit ones or TT’ ones on the other side. I could make the post cut out both sides but probably wouldn’t be very secure. Or just leave them off if using the TT posts. Still haven’t drilled the holes for either way in the body yet 😬

@Re-Bugged that cutout on the rears looks like a real pain. (you know where)

Now I see them I get your hesitation to start on these. But your result is stunning IMO.

Did you use a reamer for the bodypost cutout or just a knife? Scissors won't fit I think?

I don’t own a reamer yet @Tamiyastef, as every body is definitely the last one so not worth getting…….probably 😂

Cordless drill and Stanley knife. I drilled the larger size through the centre then the smaller one towards the guard before cutting outside, then slice the straight bit through the middle with the knife. The screw & bolt holes are close to the edge so best to make those to as well before cutting the outside.

In all honesty the main chassis cover is a very good fit so the guards are almost redundant as I’ll more than like be on tarmac most of the time. They might be handy for attaching mud flaps.

I am yet to brave cutting my chassis cover! I might have a go later.

Is it possible to fit a motor heatsink with the cover in place, or does it sit quite close to the motor can? I notice the manual recommends the TT-01 aluminium heat sink, but I'm not sure if it will fit at the same time as the cover.

I only have a TT02 heat sink so I just tried it on the XM, looks like it fits fine with the cover on and the Kyosho can I’ve got in there mate…

If there was any other tip I could give on the XM-01 is to sit the receiver as far back as you can get it up to the little shelf that covers it so you can still get an Allen Key to the motor mesh adjusting screws once it’s all together.
