Very nice, did you mount the guards to the body or the chassis?

Thanks fella’s 😃

The flaps are fixed to the chassis mud guards, the back one’s were fairly simple stuck on with some ESC double sided tape,

The front one’s took a bit of faffing around though. I tried sticking them on with Shoe Goo but didn’t take to the mud flap rubber. They needed to brought forward a bit as well to suit the body. Some thicker rubber I had was used to pack them out then a M3 countersunk bolt and nut was used to secure it. I had already drilled another hole earlier and used a button head bolt but the wheel was rubbing it on full lock. The countersunk bolt was placed a bit higher and sinks into the rubber nicely out the way. I’ll probably end up adding bolts to the rear if they work loose.

This has prompted me to finish my 3d printed mud guards and add mud flaps. I've got some pond liner that will work perfectly.

Now it’s a Rally car coz it has mud flaps 😁

It still needs mud to be a proper rally car

Australia dust is notorious for getting in everywhere, so if anyone’s wondering how the dust cover performs…..well yeah…..about that…..😂

Well, after my experience with the dust cover of the XV02, I expected nothing else. 🤔

Dust, mud whatever. It's a proper rally car now, no doubt about at :D

@Re-Bugged.great pics and lovely surroundings. How do you feel about the M-chassis rally tyres compared to the full size rally blocks?

In all honesty I wouldn’t know as I’ve never had any full size Rally blocks.

On the loose loamy stuff it was fairly squirmy, and would spin out a lot when I was heavy on/off with the throttle. It did actually get stuck & hung up stones/sticks a bit easier than I thought it would being 4WD if I lost to much momentum. I think it needs a well groomed track to get the best out of it. I was hardly over half throttle most of the time. Still early days to get a proper feel for it.

Half expecting to find some new unkown animal in there since its australia. Impressed it doesnt jam up the steering. There seems some build up under there.

I learned a long time ago, that no matter what you do, dust gets in. So it's better to just make sure that larger debris gets out without getting stuck in some vital part 😁

Which is why I don't run my junk in the dirt!

My experiences with 1/10 rally cars would almost always result in 20 minutes of fun, and 20 hours of cleaning!

I can relate to that 👍🏻 but dust & muck here is indiscriminate as to what car it settles on..

Dust is fine, you can blow away most of it with air and wipe the rest.. mud however.. I still have pieces on my car since april race, because it requires complete disassembly and bath with brush to clean up 😃

Oh, that buggy - I nabbed that photo for my "inspiration and build project" folder I have on my computer ... :)

The Beetle - what is underneath? Something Kyosho? (those rims and tyres take me back in time ...)

Javelin gets my vote :)

Exactly what he said 👆🏻 @JimBear 😁

It’s one of a few variants I’ve done with this body. The Javelin underneath has probably been my favourite. I took the cage & wing off and fabricated body mounts out of bits & pieces I had laying around. It drove really well.

I keep looking at the XM-01 chassis. Anyone using it as a road only car? I wondered how it drives on tarmac instead of dirt.

I plan to build it for tarmac also as I want to compare it with the TA03R-S that has a 237mm wheelbase and I have the Kadett body for the XM-01 that's 239mm wheelbase.

It will get the same brushless combo as my XV-01 so it will be changed later to compare those two off road as well.

So lots of plans but very little actual RC time for the moment.

I'm using mine as a road only car until now. Took it to the track three times and I really like the car. It is a great on-road car, especially on a rather narrow circuit. I plan to run it off-road too, I just didn't have the opportunity yet.
