I preordered with Jadlam models £279, if you have never used them before you normally get a first order discount code sent to your email.

Good thing with Jadlam is that I got to request a price match at delivery time on my Avante Black. No guarantees that they'd do it again, but worth bearing it in mind.

I'm intrigued but won't ask how you got hold of these

They'd been posted on another forum in Asia.

Yesterday I drove a friend's XV02 after he had fitted the centre differential. Wow — what impressive power transmission and road holding! Now I'm even more excited about the XM01, I can hardly wait to get my hands on one.

I've already built mine. Plaza Japan sadly didn't sell the diff  only the gear so I had to get the diff from RCjaz.

Have you driven it before (or another XV02) without the centre differential? i was hoping to keep my XM-01 stock...

Yes, my own XV02 still is without center diff. I think the difference is noticeable.

That battery tray is very tight.

The whole package is quite tight, especially in S-wheelbase.

I wonder, why they didn't go in "improved MB-01" layout - transverse battery, but under the driveshaft to lower the CG. If they kept the reversible chassis concept, it could make a rear weight-biased TC version, too.

Regarding the center diff, I have built a XV-02Pro and a XV-02RS Pro both with center diff and the cars are fantastic both on and off road. Not sure if I'll get an XM-01 but if I do, I think there is a low-cost alternative to buying an oil diff for the center: instead buy the TT-02 diffs (51004 + diff cups 54477) for the rear and use the kit's rear for the center (you still need to buy the spur 22050 for the center diff). This should give sufficient performance given the rear diffs are usually run looser.  I am assuming 51004 would fit the XV-02 given the TT-02 and XV-02 diffs are cross-compatible (maybe someone can verify this).

I think the goal was to make an M size XV02 variant and so they took the XV02 layout as a starting point?

It makes sense to have as much carry over as possible between the two.

Although the battery is upright I don't think it will be too much of a problem as everything else is pretty low down. Hopefully a standard stick pack will fit with zero issues.

It does make sense, but the only part of the bathtub carried over seems to be the A-part tree.

Although I don'tlike the upright battery, it's not that big of an issue for CG, with narrow lipo square packs available.

It's more about packing efficiency, with battery like that, it requires quite large bathtub, which barely clears the M-chassis wheels, with lot of empty space unused. Because of that, it seems that larger wheels won't fit, which is unfortunate, because it could be an interesting alternative to MF-01X in off-road variant as well. Transverse battery layout would provide a bit more space.

You'll always struggle to fit a 140mm battery into a 210mm wheelbase and unless you go for a TL01 + MF01X layout which is a bit out dated now you have to go with this layout. The Durango Dex410 is a great example of keeping everything low.

Larger wheels should fit onto the 225mm+ options or use wider hexs.

Exactly. But you can easily fit it under a 160mm body.

We have to wait and see, but it looks like there's not much space around the front wheels aswell. XV-02 also nearly touches the bathtub at full lock.

Hopefully we'll see some more details -

All I need to know at this point is, if the rear diff case is available as a separate part and if the uprights are compatible with M-07/8 😁

Sounds like you have a specific plan

Not exactly specific, but I'd like to build another mini rally and this chassis opens numerous possibilities:

- the separate rear gearbox, if it's easily available, could be used to make a custom composite chassis for XV-02/XM-01

- XM-01 suspension, which is compatible with XV-02 mounts, could be also used to make a mini XV-01

- uprights compatible with M-07/8 would make them even more capable as rally chassis

I'm interested to know why the Japanese release is set so far out in June 2024,

while Europe will get the end of March release. This is not usually the case or?

The Japanese date is more accurate. Nuremberg releases hit market in May.

March date is not reliable

Great that he listed through the manual. Now I know that the rear gearboxes are a separate U-parts tree.

I wonder what's the length of swing shaft. Unfortunately it's not covered in the video and the resolution is too low to make up the PN from the manual..

I'm disappointed with tires though.. I hoped they'd at least make softer compound - that really changed standard rally blocks from unusable to great.

Otherwise, it really is just smaller XV-02 😃
