Kyosho Rocky re-re will it happen ?

What’s people’s thoughts on Kyosho Re - Releasing a Rocky?

I would love it especially the turbo rocky but I don’t think it’s on Kyosho’s radar at the moment but like I always say on topics such as this I would love to be proven wrong! But it’s a stand alone buggy with a one off chassis and a weird 4wd system!

I tried asking my Magic 8 Ball and got "cannot predict now". Kyosho seems to be putting out the heavy hitters in the re-re department. I'd love for them to start on the low to mid range plastic stuff, but as of yet, nothing. I want a Cosmo for some reason. The Rocky kinda sits in the middle. From what I've gathered, unlike Tamiya who mostly just dusted off the old molds, Kyosho seems to have redesigned their re-res from the ground up. Its probably a bit more work for Kyosho to bring a kit back from the dead. Fingers crossed though.

I’m certain the turbo rocky will be at some point. It looks fantastic.

I think it would be cool. But, I would hope they upgrade the transmission. I think they would since they've upgraded the Ultima and Optimas.

Yeah I think Rocky & Turbo Rocky will happen, but not yet. One of the LWB Mids will be next & then probably Lazer ZX after that. Then they will move down to stuff like the Rocky & hopefully the niche stuff like the Gallop.

Never had one, but would be interested if it was re-re, love the quality of Kyosho

In any case, they should prioritize the Rocky line over the Shadow line…. 😝

I doubt that a Rere of the Rocky will happen. As mentioned at the beginning, the Rocky was a one-chassis car, and the fan base is probably not nearly as big as that of the Optima boys.

I'd be really surprised. The Rocky wasn't quite a one-off - it shares about half its parts with the Raider series - but has very little in common with anything else in their lineup. Also, if the rumors are true about supply problems with drive chains for the Optima and Javelin, I would imagine the last thing Kyosho's corporate overlords want to deal with is another chain-driven re-re.

If it happened I'd be on it like white on rice. Add the Icarus or Pegasus in there too while you are at it. I have a special place in my heart for this era of Kyosho buggies as the Icarus was my first hobby grade RC after I upgraded from a Tyco Turbo Hopper.

I would buy both the Rocky (my first RC-car I bought in 1986) and the Turbo Rocky asap if they were to come back as reres. I do also not think the chain manufacturing issue for Optima is still around? I have a new Javelin on order and I really hope it will have chain as option.

Bought this used one and completly restored 2 years ago, and still on the shelve. the Rocky was a kick *** looking a good middle range buggy.
