What is the most ridiculous Tamiya kit?

I returned to Tamiya after a long break from RC vehicles, with the purchase of a very serious Scania 770s 8x4 truck. Whilst at my parent’s house over Christmas I bought a Lunch Box to keep me occupied, and I am loving it. From there I bought a Wild Willy 2 and I’m finding myself increasingly drawn to their ‘fun’ models.

I watched a video the other day featuring one of the ridiculous VW wheelie vans and couldn’t stop smiling. I’m now on the lookout for parts to make up my own as the kit is no longer available. 

This got me thinking. I can’t imagine there is anything much more silly than the wheelie camper van, but what is the craziest kit that Tamiya has ever produced?

Who else loves these types of models and who thinks they are silly and sticks to the serious vehicles, and who does both?

WR-02G is the most magnificent WR-02 chassis ever!

Just put some Blackfoot/Bruiser tires at the rear, then it's easy to drive, and cute, kawaii, wonderful, splendid, definitely magic.

Oh yes, maybe the Willy's Wheeler Honda City Turbo on WR-02C chassis is a bit better... But very close

While I like my M-05, M-06, M-07, DN-01 Zahhak, XV-01, DB-01 now, what got me restarted on RC was Wild Willy 2 back in 2000.  

I seem to have a cycle. When I (re)restarted in 2017, it was Montero wheelie. In about 2-3 years or so, I slowed down.  

This time, it's MB-01 Fiat Abarth 1000 that (re)(re)restarted.  What's common is that they all have plastic bits on the shell.  WW2 and Montero are hard bodies. Fiat has the hatch and the engine in plastic.  I still plan on getting M-08 and BBX.  But I seem to enjoy simpler chassis, so I got MB-01 before them.  So I do both.  Silliness is important in life too.  In fact, if they sell a comical 962 with Moko chan and Rabbi kun, I'll buy it before BBX again.

I dig the silly now. I am having loads of fun with my indoor crawling sessions with my tracked GF01. I love the fact that no way can you take a squashed up FJ40 and put it on tracks and take it seriously.

Yes, they’re a bit silly, but fun. My BBX is a pain compared to these, and the Lunch Box.

I was so happy to discover the GF-01 Kumamon Tractor, and quite sad to see that it was discontinued. Easily my favourite among them.

But hey, let's do a Monty Python - look at the bright side of life -  there is still the Dancing Rider, Wild Willy 2, the GF-01TR Monster Beetle, the old Lunch Box ... I mean, there is enough crazy Tamiya stuff yet to build, then get out the door and have a drive-around and a laugh.

This prompted me to watch Matteo's YT video. They look so fun. Immediately added to my wish list. @Siclick33 as you have both, are there any differences between the 2 kits other than the body shell?

Different driver figure, different colour chassis (dark grey v black), different colour wheels, but effectively they are the same other than the bodyshell.

I made my Dancing Rider up the same as the Tamico limited edition (number 334 of 333 ) from parts - it’s not an OG limited edition. I think the Dual Rider is getting a little more difficult to source; I bought mine from Japan.
