In the last 24 hours I have had two requests from 2 seperate Club members, asking if I want to sall some of my vintage Tamiya's!

Now I know these are just desperate ppl trying their luck to see if I will sell, but to be quite frank I'm getting rather annoyed by it, in the past I have had many similar requests from members asking I will sell certain cars, some have even made me quite generous offers, but the thing is, if I DID want to sell any of my vintage Tamiyas then you ppl on the club will be the first to know about it!

I will either post them up in the trade section, or here on the forum of perhaps place a note on the description of the showroom entry itself. but unless you actually see any on my cars officially up for sale then please DON'T assume that I am willing to sell [V]

It seems to be the older unrestored cars that get most attention from these would be buyers, but just because I may not seem to doing anything with a car, dosen't nessesarly mean that I intend on leaving it that way, I WILL get around to restoring all of my cars eventually, it's just a question, of time, motivation, money and spares availabillty.

I will admit that there are some cars in my collection that I may decide to sell and you may even read my intentions that are actually written into some of the write ups, but again this is just mere conjecture on my part and until I actually advertize a certain car for sale, it is not actually on the market until I do (but for those cars perhaps I could be swayed with a genuine serious offer ;)

It seems clear to me that I am going to have to place disclaimers on all my vintage Tamiya write ups to say that those cars are NOT FOR SALE [V]

Unlike some members who can't seem to hold onto their cars for 5 mins, I'm a hoarder by nature and don't like to part with anything, so I'm a buyer not a seller, so until such time as that situation changes, all my cars will be staying with me for the forseable future.

I'm sorry to be so forward about this but I feel that I need to make my point clear about my position as regards to selling my cars.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this statement :)

I have recently had the same type of e-mails about my Hilux.

I was also considering putting a piece in the description of each car saying it is not for sale.

Of course it is kind of nice when somebody shows interest in your cars but if it's for sale then it would be in the trades section, it's a simple as that.

It also makes it worse when somebody offers an amount or a trade that is completely unreasonable for the car their interested in. It seems that some people just send a mail with a silly offer not really expecting to get a deal but IF it happens they get a bargain. This just makes it even more annoying.

I too have have several, one much repeated offer for my HiLux, mainly from the USA. I do not mind tho odd mail offering to buy it but several with increasing offers is plain annoying what part of "Its not for sale did you not understand!"

If i want to trade/sell anything its in my trades.

Hi Simen

err just cos its says 99 cars, dosent nessasarly mean I actually have 99? it's the number of showroom entries that I have, the actual number of cars I have is about 85.

I do have a lot of work to do in my showroom, some of my older items are out of dats and seriously need to be updated, there are a few cars that you can see in some other entries that need their own seperate posts, and there are s few other cars that I aquired recently that need to be put up, and there are some other showroom items that could do with deleting cos I don't think they are relavent anymore.

Like I said a lot of work, and when you consider that most of my monster write-ups take about 2-3 hours to type out, thats quite daunting task :)

It is except when the offer is basically just someone trying to get something for nothing. I think genuine interest is fine but someone sending you an offer that is nowhere near the value just in case they get a bargain is something different.

It's like when people put stuff up for trade and say "make an offer". You send an offer but then get no reply, presumably because they expect more money. But if thats the case why not say how much you want in the first place or at least give a rough starting figure.

It seems that some people are always trying their luck just to get a good deal.

i know bib what your saying but why get bent on it?.....i have had allot of silly offers but if it does not meet your asking price or what you want then just reply back saying "thanks for your interest

but im not interested in your offer"....& if a person does not reply back to you for buying or trading something...hey its there problem not yours.....& just leave it at that....[;)]..... Sanja.

I don't mind too much (yet) getting emails asking about sales of my models but what I do mind are the folks whom ask me to tell them what a model is worth. The last one asked me to price a model I have never even owned! what a [:o)]!

When I get the query about 'what is this car worth?' my reply is usually:

eBay>search>[insert model here]

Wahoo!

Heah Sanja, No way I would get "bent" on it. Just seems amazing how some people think. But then again it's all personal opinion.

[:D]At least you know you have nice cars if somebody wants it[:D]

Personally I try to not to see things from their neagtive sides as it doesnt bring anything, so I see it as interest in my cars, which is nice...[:)]

Ok if the offer is rediculously low its annyoing but most enquieries I had till now offered fair money or asked me for a price and once I even got a very fair offer on a car I wasnt crazy for and although I didnt have it for sale I sold it, so fine for me...

Pls dont bomb me with offers now LOL, as I said that was 1 out for probably 30+ offers [;)][:P]

Hey Wldnas, I hear ya man!! Hey, could I please buy a piece of carpet that you have walked on, just so I can worship it?? Hee hee. No, but seriously, that one sandscorcher that you dont have a body for, you know, the one in your showroom- it does not appear that you are going to be doing anything with it, so I was just wondering if you maybe would trade it for sayyyyy, a tennis ball and 2 cans of Copenhagen??? Nah, just kidding again![:D] But in response to the comments you make in your "essay" on your showroom page, I personally dont have the time to write pages and pages about every detail or action I inflict upon my stuff, I am either working, or if I have the time, putting around with my cars, so I just wanted to personally apologize and give a reason for my inadequacies- but after all, they are just toys, and like a wise man once told me, " You Cant Take Em With Ya My Boy!" Good night, and God bless.

I just added "it's not for sale" in the showroom description for my one or 2 cars that people would want, and people don't ask anymore.

hi

this topic reminds me of the ****ing phone calls you get asking if you want Double-glazing. Maybe 1 in every 1000 people they pester actually desides they do want new windows, but for the rest it's just an annoyance. OK, it's slightly different because the problem you guys have is buyers not sellers.

I've had a couple emails and here are my thoughts.

1. if the person is nice in the email then they get a polite reply back. I have no problems with people asking if I want to sell.

2. If I feel that the person is "Fishing" for a bargin -or- is not as polite as the person above, then I just don't reply.

An example TCmember -X- emailed me about my superchamp. Very nice email offering me a Wheeler. I mentioned that I'm very busy but might be interested. He replied that he might keep the wheeler. In turn I explained that I haven't had a chance to really think about it due to work and would reply once work calmed down. That's where I am right now.

Very polite emails no offense taken and with any luck maybe the member is now inspired to keep and finish working on his wheeler. IMO this is a perfect way to contact each other. In ebay terms it would be A++++++++++++++++++

Example 2: Got an email. The emailer mentions that it looks like my blackfoot is collecting dust and he'll take it off my hands for $50.00. This email got a no reply from me. He's fishing for a price and I didn't bite.

People who like to email like member -X-, feel free to email any time.

The way I look at it - if you don't ask you don't get. As a potential buyer the way I see it is that I have nothing to lose.

As long as you are polite then I don't think there is any harm. Who knows you may get lucky. It just depends on what "how much it's worth to the buyer".

Everything is for sale - at a price.

hi

i would just like to say that i wouldn't get annoyed with a member emailing me (if i actually had a showroom) like i get annoyed by companies trying to sell stuff over the phone, as mentioned above. I was just pointing out similarities. I think i would be proud that someone wanted something i had, as long as they could except no for an answer.

Thinking about it, i would find it difficult if someone offered me a good amount for one of my cars: my head would be saying "oi Tom, u need the money!"[}:)] but my heart would say "look how beautiful that Top Force looks!"[:)], if it was a low offer i could simily say "no thanks".

Trust me, like everything it may be novel at first... but soon gets very tiring clearing one's mail inbox. [:I]

Why don't you have a showroom?? [}:)][}:)][}:)]

Some are legit enquiries from members - have no probs with that, I'm more than happy to chat/reply. Some are parts requests or just to say "they had one 10 yrs ago etc"... well, that's fine too.

But the real tiring ones are "HOW MUCH FOR THAT??" where its (usually) in all caps, no mail subject and worst of all No Name and sometimes the return email is even Wrong.

My "delete" key is as polished as my spacebar... [}:)]

I'm still waiting for the "you've got so many you should give one to me free" email... not naming names, but I'm told it happens. [:P]

Don't have an Evo... just an Evo III. [8D]

Not interested in a hoppedup TB01, nor an electric TGR.

But e3 is a shaft-drive 414/TA04, right??

Which is currently sitting patiently waiting for a suitable new shell, and/or me to find time to invent some new posts so that it can take standard Tamiya bodyhole locations. [:I]

hi

yes, Willy, i could imagine it gets tiresome. In answer to your question: i don't have a showroom because i don't have a digital camera. I must get round to sending off normal photos i have of them and scan them in.

Posted

I must admit I have had alot of queries about my showroom cars, I have had some offers that have really made me think about selling, I like most of the collectors with a few cars have had my fair share of Turkeys looking to Raid all your goodies for minimum consideration. These get the big delete. Sometimes I've had guys asking if I know where they could get a similar car thats fine .... It tends to happen more with the more difficult cars to get. I myself scour Tc members showrooms when I'm looking for a car I don't have. I have been known to ask if these cars r for sale or trade. I must admit I have got a few cars like this. Sometimes members aren't thinking about selling until u show some interest or they'd rather have a different car so the trades on.

I have never been rude about it and normally allways get a reply. Other times I've seen a member with a nice car and said so and then been offered the car. Either way as long as I'm not getting offered stuff all by time wasters I don't care. [}:)] Roll on the first 60
