As title. Quite tempted by a C11 as something a little different, but would want to run a different body. What's out there? Tamiya website says wheelbase is 280mm?

Hi Cy, wheelbase is adjustable and can be set to 260, 270 or 280.

Width is not adjustable and dictated by the (very nice) wheels and foam tires which I think come out to 204mm. I can measure the front and rear precisely tonight if that is useful. If you really needed to make it narrower, the tires are actually narrower than the wheels and so you could technically trim off the rim and mount the tires more inboard, although that's a bit of a shame since these are sort of 'difficult to find' wheels ;)

I'm curious to find out about other body options as well.

Seems L and L do some repro stuff. Jag XJR-12, 787B and the like.

Hmm, L&L you say? The guys I bought a battery and tires but never received anything after over two months? 😅 I'm actually still waiting on the refund to clear in my bank account.

But I don't think they're making the Jag anymore; there might be some Mazda's left. You can also get their bodies (with a mark-up) from that "2 monkey 2 bird" eBay seller - I might have got his name wrong - he's the guy showing his biceps while beholding the bodies on eBay. He's been reselling L&L bodies for years. These repro bodies are also known to spread out once you have cut them due to poor design of the mold or poor fabrication technique or both. So they will need some internal bracing to fix that issue.

Meanwhile on Buyee 😎 you can buy any of the Group C all day long for less than a brand new C11 kit. There was a complete, never run, XJR-12 a few weeks ago for less than a 100$ (buy it now price). The 787b's pop up all the time as well. Maybe look in that direction before attempting a questionable repro body? I never had any issues at all with Buyee. Perfect packaging, quick shipping times, no tax and friendly customer service by instant messaging.

Fair assessment. My L and L bodies have just been OK, but for runner/racer bodies that's fine. I've not bought anything from him in the last 2 years.

I'll keep an eye out on Buyee then. Not used it before, but XJR12 would be sweet.

I love the L&L shop especially for that. I could buy the Nissan body in a german shop before the C11 was released, but would be too afraid now to run it. That is were L&L comes to play. Unfortunately their location makes it an expensive experience.

Another option is to look at the 1/12 pan cars, which may open up some more Group C options. Seems like a lot of them are around 200mm wheelbase, including the Kyosho Fantom. The RM-01 bodies (if you can find one) fit the Fantom nicely and I would assume other pan cars as well.

@Room335: I think it is also about width not only wheelbase (of 280mm). RM01 are about 170mm compared to the 206mm width of the C11 body.

@ThunderDragonCy: Finding Pro10 bodies is already a challenge. Tamiyas 280mm wheelbase is not the „industrial standard“ for Pan cars or Onroad cars. I couldn’t find anything that is not a Crawler…

@wtcc5 The wheelbase was my concern, but according to m'learned colleague @Pylon80 above it can be adjusted down to 260. The width being 204 is also "non standard". I guess if i do get one it will just have to be a C11. Was the F103GT touring car sized? 257 WB / 190 wide? I know they are hard yo find too, but can you buold one from an F104 or something?

This is something I've looked at and it's the width at the front which is the problem.

I wanted a touring car body for one of my grp c projects, if you use the offset upright set hop up parts from the f103 that reduces the wheelbase down to 256-257mm . The wheels could be shaved down a couple of mm each side and there is a slightly narrower bearing which is about 0.5mm thinner.

I'm reluctant to make the front wheels any narrower as I'd lose grip.

@ThunderDragonCy: Finding bodies for the F103GT is easier. It has the standard 190/257mm size. You could drive a lot of actual LM super car bodies from Montech (Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini) and what Tamiya offers (Toyota/Nissan). Also the GT body world and their performance shells like the ZooRacing BWOAH!.

Of course all the TC 190mm shells, too.

Sorry I should have been more clear…I was suggesting to use a pan car chassis instead of the C11, just to give some more options for Group C bodies.

I think there are a few options on Banzai Hobby. I haven't searched in a while but there are a few LM style bodies that would fit:

A lot of touring car bodies advertised as "200 mm" are actually a little wider than that, so if you can get the wheelbase down, those should fit as well.

Same thing for any American bodies from RJ Speed or Sabula Tech or McAllister advertised as "8 inches" wide, that's 203 mm, and they're usually a hair over. And most of those don't have defined rear wheel arches, so you have some wiggle room in the wheelbase.

And there’s always this:

I have one and compared against my uncut C11 body the width is the same.

Looks like an OK 917 body, certainly good enough for a runner!

Speaking of Porsche 917, recently I've seen some truly mouthwatering bodies on IG, all mounted on the group C chassis. They look like the real thing, especially as they were finished off with proper paintjobs. Upon asking, the guy told me it's from some brand that only seems to be available on part of the Asian market (can't remember the name right now, sorry). I would get one of those in a heartbeat if I got a chance.

How do you adjust the wheelbase? I looked in the C11 manual, but i can't find any info there? Or i have missed it maybe.

The center bathtub chassis has 3 sets of holes, spaced every 10mm. The C11 and Jag use the forward most holes (280), the 787b uses the middle holes (270) and things like the F40 would use the rearmost holes (260).

Aha! Thanks! So with these 3 holes you can adjust the wheelbase:

They don't explain this in the manual though, i wonder why?

The pictures on the boxes showed it,

C11 - long

787B - mid

Jag - long

And the ones im guessing at;

F40 / NSX / Street Devil / Imsa 300Zx / Daytona Thunder - short?
