RC10 40th Anni!

Anyone know the total production of this kit?   I was guessing 5000 but I do not see a number on their website.   Which tells me, if it does well, it won't be limited for long lol

Well gosh....

Guess I'm back in the 40th rc-10 game.

After requesting a refund, I get a phone call from associated saying that my car was already sent out. I can send it back or he could take payment back for it.

I told him to take payment back for it and I'll accept the RC-10.

After the discouraging disappointment of losing out on the NIB Turbo Ultima I guess the rc10 will be a sort of "make it up" gift lol.  Man these little cars do bring out the child in us "adults".

My plan is, this will 100% be a running RC-10 I have the Edinger for shelf duty. Of course it will not be pounded, bashed or get extremely filthy, just a fun car I will take to the park and run around a little bit....just so I can finally say I drove an RC-10.

A dream come true from 38 years ago(I think) when I was a pre teen wanting an RC-10 soooo baaaddd.

Can't wait to share my chassis number!

BTW the staff at associated are top notch...they respond immediately and handle the situation nicely.

My CC will def be a shelf car.  I just love that they came up with this concept.   The quality def doesn't seem to be that of the 80s and 90s of my original RC10, but that doesn't matter.

I just want to find some period correct parts.   I'd like to find a Reedy brushed motor or a Trinity Slot Machine NIB but not seeing any on the market right now.

I just don't believe in putting new parts or components in these retro cars.   Call me crazy.

I ran an MC112B in my first RC10.   Finding a new NOVAK or TEKIN from those days will be impossible.

But yeah the memories are why people buy them.

When I picked up mine that was the topic of conversation no body knows what the actual production numbers is (my one is 1988) and why no instruction manual just a scan and download? But they need to be very careful about making it limitless because part of the hype is people who collect (not scalpers) buy these items because they are lead to believe they have something special in their collection which has a very short shop self life but the collector isn’t stupid and if they’ve felt mislead it’s generally a downwards spiral for subsequent kits.

I'm about to give up on it again like I previously did. They told me it was sent out, so I said I would keep it, sending money back after I requested a refund. Just checked this morning and it's the same story....awaiting fulfillment and now I have a message that says "This item cannot be reordered because it is out of stock"

So did they actually send this out?, nope...I believe they lied to me and now it's out of stock, pretty sure I'm dead balls not getting one. I will ask them tomorrow to get my money back, I'm done trying to get this "unique" car, wish is just a knock off copy of the real, American built, RC-10.

I'm glad all the scalpers and YouTubers all got theirs tho...

I think you will get one.   But I agree the back and forth is annoying. It's 2024, there's no reason they can't keep track of stock in real time and know what they have, what's available, and what is possible.

I think they are likely trying to figure out just how many they want to make.   Others have said the Worlds car was a flop in its initial release so rather than get burnend again by a cool market, they are trying to feather the stock and supply with demand.   I think that's why they did not release a total number being offered.

Just seems like marketing idiots once again don't know how to do a limited offering.  It's not hard.   You announce the product, you announce the total number, you number them, then you fulfiill, and once they are gone that's it.   Everyone is in the know at that point.

Notice there is no supply numbers in this announcement:  https://www.associatedelectrics.com/teamassociated/cars_and_trucks/RC10_Classic_40th/Kit/

They're jerking us off at this point.   I would not pay 2x 3x the price with an eBay seller, this kit is not the same as the original in many ways.  It's not worth any markup - despite having a limited edition decal on the chassis.

Yeah I think so aswell! I’m thinking that’s the reason no body is sure what the production run is? Because they’ll push them out until they start sitting on shelves then they’ll announce the discontinued production and the amount they’ve produced:)

Despite swearing up and down that I'd never pay what feels like an exorbitant premium for a fancy-ish box and a "limited edition" sticker, I happened to see a box on the shelf at my local hobby shop and didn't even hesitate to grab it and go.  So much for my convictions...

Yepp I do the same.

I'm going back and forth about if I should go with it or cancel it. I have an original, unused Edinger RC-10 I received last year, so why do I want this new edition?...  I dunno, probably just because it's there, it's cool and I just want it.

I'm thinking really hard about going with my original idea of getting a good, used one, restore it and drive it, leaving my unused Edinger as a nice, display piece. I would not need the new 40th edition, it would be just hogging it up, just because and wasting my money.

I think I'll give it one more week and by next Saturday, if it's not shipped out, I will cancel it.

Why do they make these little cars so addicting lol, I have a problem, it's collecting rc cars and it has to get under control hahaha.

For some reason I'm liking the idea of having only like three cars at any one time in my possession, not 23 unbuilt kits that either will never get built or just sit on a shelf. I'd rather have three cars that I use and when I get tired as f them, I'll sell and get new ones that I like.

I'm feeling like I will be having a huge sell out this year of my collection.

Yepp yepp, and I'm happy all the YouTubers, scalpers and everyone that needed two, three or four of these kits for themselves, proudly own them.

I was informed by A E that they will post when they become available again(pretty much saying it's over) my invoice(order form is now gone from their site.

Yepp

Missed out again, but like I said above, glad all them people got theirs 🙄

I saw in an Insta advertised post recently someone who had three. So there were ways to get them I guess - multiple email accounts and/or different suppliers?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure AE is limiting order quantities to one per customer but that's not the case with virtually every other seller.

With them, you can place as many as you want in your cart and proceed through checkout if you have the coin.

I just saw a number greater than 5000 in a Fb post. So AE is having a high limit. Should give hope to everyone…

Thanks..

I'm not far from there(NY) so I went ahead and got one. Yes they marked it up a bit, but I'd rather pay them as a local business of sorts rather than a scalper.

What are you all paying for these?

At A.E it was 379 and at nitro it's 449.00.

I probably shouldn't but I truly believe this is the last chance to get a brand new RC10 and I'll regret it later on.

I have my Edinger, that is brand new, but I didnt  get the experience of building an rc10 and I'm not running my Edinger. With the new kit I'll get both experiences.

Anyways, thanks. I canceled my order with AE and got refunded back. I'll buy it from nitro hobbies

Doesn't the 40th chassis have mounting holes for the stealth transmission, I would think that means a team car coming in the future.

I was lucky and received my order from AE and paid 405 after tax, but gladly would have done what you did if push came to shove. Don't beat yourself up, as it won't be the last time you slightly over pay for something in this hobby. I guarantee after that post above, there's people ordering a second or third at that price because they just can't help themselves.

For real.

I don't get the point of owning three four five of the same car, for what?...  Unless you have purposes to sell them later for stupid money.

I have my Edinger for display and being awesome, the new car for building experience and finally getting to drive an RC-10. That's all I need.

Of course I will run very gently, just running up and down the beach at camp...stuff like that.

I agree.

I would add that you really need a "runner"' to bring to the track.  This car drives so nice in stock trim and it really responds well to tuning for a specific track.  For me, dialing-in the car is a big part of the overall driving experience.  :)

Somehow, I doubt it.  Unlike Tamiya, AE doesn't appear to seek riches in the re-release market.

I was hoping for a RC10T re-release but yesterday it seems that AE pulled the last few remaining parts for that model off their website. :(

I would be very surprised if we see a team car re-release -- pleasantly surprised, of course.

Seems like people that placed orders directly with AE on the 17th / 18th time frame and after have just been left hanging (I'm one of them).  Seeing them pop up all over the world, in hobby shops, people buying 2, 3 or 4, seeing them built already and seeing parts and kits being scalped on Ebay already is becoming a bit infuriating to be honest. They have my money but can't seem to ship the kit I paid for...seems they seriously dropped the ball here on their pre-order system. You would think pre-ordering directly from the source would ensure that you get what you paid for....apparently not the case.

I feel your pain.  I waded through a Tower Hobbies pre-order quagmire with the BBX last year.

Anyway, there have been a few posts on RC10talk recently with similar issues:
