Anyone have tips for getting the axle pins in place? Associated uses roll pins, which are hollow and slotted, unlike Tamiya's solid pins. I assume they do this to allow for a compression fit, keeping them in place. I've tried needle-nose and channel-lock pliers with no luck. Very frustrating!

FWIW, this is how I install the roll pins.

A vise and a third hand is helpful.

Wow great info guys, thank you both. This is all pretty intense for installing axle pins 😂

edit: I was able to get it with the 3rd hand technique. Used my soldering "helper" with an alligator clip to hold the axle. Needle-nose pliers to hold the pin, and channel-lock to drive it in. Still took multiple tries and I'm shocked at how much force it took. Those pins aren't going anywhere. Thank you again @wtcc5 and @IXLR8 for the help!

I think I’ve just about finished building chassis number 300.

This is the box art display body

Rc10

….and this is the track suit and trainers look for Tamiya Junkies meetings.

I just need some decent wheel nuts for the rears and I’m waiting for a new wing wire and diamond mounts to arrive from L&L.

Very nice. I need to get along to one of these Junkies meets. I take it I'll need BRCA membership to attend? Anything else I should know?

Yes, BRCA membership. Perhaps I always take a few cars. I try and limit myself to four, one non-Tamiya, two Tamiya buggies and something daft like a WW2 or Clod.

It always a fun meeting and well worth the effort. I hope to see you there soon.

Thank you. It's a couple of hours drive and I work Saturdays, so hoping to book the next one off. I'll probably bring my Optima Mid, BBX, Boomerang and Lunchbox for the first meet I attend.

That JJ body is gorgeous! That's the best view of it I've scene yet. I'll be doing up a JCconcepts Worlds Detonator to that livery for my 40th.

Doesn’t look hopeful, there is a CML facebook post saying that they have orders for hundreds of kits that they can’t fulfil. I don’t really understand why CML encouraged stockists to take a 2nd lot of pre-orders when they hadn’t secured the supply. Maybe something went wrong with the production run

Thanks for the lead to CML Facebook. I found this:-

Quote

Despite our repeated pleas to consider allocating or producing more so we could at least go some way to clear the hundreds of pre-orders we received from dealers, we have been unsuccessful in our efforts to secure further stock of the RC10CC and RC10 Classic 40th models.

From May 31st. Several LHS are stating that they are working with CML on resolving this - the fact there is no firm "no more" yet, makes me think AE is probably accumulating back orders to see if worth doing another run or not.

So I guess it's a case of wait and see for the next few weeks.

Edit: just had email response from my LHS to say they are still working with CML on this, so as at 29th June it's not a firm "no more" but I agree it's not looking hopeful. My guess remains that AE will wait and see total demand before calling it.

Go to fan RC and get one of these new graphite worlds car. It's actually a rere team car but for legal reasons they likely have to call it a graphite worlds as there is no such thing from AE. Stinks some of you missed out on the gold but there's still tons that you can do to scratch the itch. Heck, get the fan rc10 graphite, pick up a 40th chassis and you can make a 40th CE that AE hasn't done yet etc.  A little more but you will still end up with a super cool rc10.

I wonder if AE is actually paying attention to forums and the fact that Fan RC is making PERFECT replicas of their Gold and black pan parts.

Apropos Fan RC - I happened to see that Tamico brought in a few of the Fan RC Graphite Worlds Kit - sold out in two seconds flat apparently (to the tune of 400 euros a pop).

They both look great!  What front tires are those on the Jammin Jay?  Also, do you mind sharing your colors on the box art car?

Thanks, the front tyres are JConcepts Step Spike Green Compound and the colour of the box art body is Tamiya PS-19 Camel yellow.

I posted in the main forum but figured I would give a little more context here. Stock body in Masami livery, which worked surprisingly well. Decals from MCI. The stock wing looked silly in this livery so I used a spare from a DN-01 kit.

Had to deviate from the "standard" Masami decals in a few spots, but overall pretty happy with the result. To be honest, I thought I would enjoy this build more than I did. The manual was sub-par and confusing in a few areas, and the white plastic parts feel like they can strip very easily. Snap rings and axle pins now give me nightmares. I built a DB-01 Durga just before the RC10, and I found that build much more enjoyable (I know, shocking from a Tamiya loyalist on a Tamiya forum ) That said, building an RC10 feels like a bucket-list item for any RC enthusiast, and I'm happy that I did it.

Here are the upgrade parts in case anyone is interested:

JCO2302 JConcepts RC10 Classic 2.5mm Carbon Fiber Front Shock Tower

JCO2303 JConcepts RC10 Classic/Worlds 2.5mm Carbon Fiber Rear Shock Tower

JCO2304 JConcepts RC10 Classic 2.5mm Carbon Fiber 6 Gear Transmission Brace

JCO2329 JConcepts RC10 Monroe Carbon Fiber Battery Brace

JCO3437W JConcepts Mono 1.9" RC10 Front Wheel and 1.7” Rear Wheel

JCO4025-02 JConcepts Bar Codes V1 1.7" 2WD Buggy Rear

JCO4026-02 JConcepts Bar Codes V1 1.9" 2WD Buggy Front

Are they still coming or did I miss the boat already?  It turns out I need some white "Classic" arms for one of my restos.

@Saito2 Partially yes, partially no lol.  They don’t appear to have the full gamut of parts listed yet.  And what is listed is just starting to come into stock.  I got a notice that the stealth gearboxes are in stock on Friday.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

When I think RC buggy, the iconic original RC10 immediately comes to mind.

Your boxart color looks nice and orange and accurate, care to share your recipe?

Thanks, it's my first RC10 and I was very nervous to botch it up! I chose PS-62 over pearl clear, no backer. In hindsight, I need to black out the visible cage from the inside. Lessons learned and whatnot.

Edit to add: I also cut the outside and sprayed the black areas with flat clear, before removing the rest.

Great job,

Just for me to understand , you sprayed pearl clear first , then applied PS-62?

and, did you spray the black sections on the outside then applied the clear?

thanks
