RC10 40th Anni!

^ Not sure on the Clear manual, I wasn't interested in ordering that one. I guess I need a motor, too. I wasn't prepared for this, this quickly! I do have some Camel Yellow paint which might look the part.

Recommendations for a cool vintage brushed motor are welcome, please!

Edit to add: I clicked on the manual link, and see this among some gingerbread BS: "The instruction manual will be in this
location when it becomes available."

Huh?!? The manual isn't ready? This is a joke, right? I hope I'm missing something, lol. Off to search . . .

That's what I was thinking, and yeah you can find the 30th manual, but why not just link to that with the QR code

Everyone wanting to save their 40th chassis, Amain is selling the CC chassis set. I'm pretty sure all the parts will transfer to it?.

Yes.  Same parts just different anno color.

And, since the CC parts are silver, scratches won't be as apparent as with the gold anno.

Well, you're probably already familiar with the stock blue label motor by AE - the motor that came with the OG kit.

AE team drivers would be running Reedy modified motors bitd.  Mike Reedy and Roger Curtis were allies.

Yep the stock AE motor, I believe they were made by Yokomo

I had thought the can or end bell was marked "Yokomo" but I just checked and there are no markings apart from the blue and chrome AE label.  There's also no reference to Reedy anywhere on the motor so I'm not sure who made them.  I will post the question over on RC10talk.com.

Anyway, AE and Yokomo were allies in those early days so it's possible the kit motor came for Yok.

IIRC, Yok team drivers competed with RC10's in 2wd and AE team drivers competed with Yoks in 4wd.  The agreement didn't last however.

Didn't A# Sell YZ10s in AE boxes for a few years? Who started building theirs?

Well Already I saw the scalpers making their profits from the RC10 40th......already

I'm not going to mention the seller or where they are selling from

This one is selling each part out of the kit, for insane money, 188 for just the chassis with NO motor plate or nose piece. Body 133.OO with stickers and driver

They are doing the same with a cc kit and some Tamiya kits.who knows how many of these that scumbag got. Probably three kits being parted out or more.

Please don't buy from these scum....please.

It says Yokomo on mine, both on the endbell and the can.

I looked on RC10talk and some motors have the Yokomo stamp on end bell and others don’t. Possibly earlier motors were Yok? Not sure of the time line.

I have a Yokomo Pro Stock II 23T that came with another purchase. Looks brand new, no pinion marks. Maybe a nice placeholder for now?

I think yokomo provided endbells for multiple motor manufacturers. I have an old speed gem and Joel Johnson motors with yokomo endbells. Nothing special about them.

Well as I posted about getting the Kyosho Turbo Ultima I get a call that he forgot it had been sold already for whatever reason...perhaps he decided to keep it, who knows, just be honest.

Probably saw it was valued more than 500.  I don't know, a bit disappointed, but it is what it is

I also pulled the plug on getting a 40th RC10. Associated just confirmed it and sent my money back.

I'll just run my Edinger RC-10 if I feel the need someday, otherwise I have no reason to get the 40th, other than hoarding reasons.

Basically going to quit this  impulse buying.

Well, I haven't yet received many replies on RC10talk but so far it appears that Yok did supply AE the "off-road stock" motors.

I did find this post from 2009.

The unmarked motor is the earlier (Yokomo) motor, it was used through early Cadillac production (the motor label should have the address on it). The motor with the brush hood heatsinks appeared later, approximately 1989, and was based on the Yokomo Esprit series.

The single un-marked motor I have came from an earlier Edinger kit (one with 7-rib front tires).   So it appears the marked motors came later.

Oh man, that is disappointing.  :(

I have a TU that I restored a few years back.

I raced an Ultima back when that model was first released - they're a great handling car!

Anyway, don't fret over the 40th as it's just a facsimile.  Your Edinger is the real RC10. :)

Sorry man! Understand about the 40th, I did kind of impulse buy it too, BUT I don't have a gold pan of any kind, and I've been kicking myself to 10 years because I didn't get a 30th. Once I finish the team car I'll start the 40th.

He felt real bad and refunded me fully.

Offered me a deal on a built one, but I declined. I'm just gonna be happy with what I have, which is more than anyone should need.

Early reports suggest the 40th is better fit and finish than the 2013 re-re.  So, if true, you really didn't miss anything.

I was holding out hope that there was going to be parts support on these but after reviewing the manual I am less confident.  I notice there aren’t any part numbers associated with things like the arms, chassis, etc.  I know there are some outstanding repro parts on the market but I was hoping Associated themselves would realize there would be a spares market to go along with the kits.

Kit #3743 is getting staged and ready. Lots of rain in the forecast this week, so the body will have to wait a bit . . . which is fine since I'm nervous as all heck that I'm gonna screw it up. I'll pick at the build throughout the week after work, no rush.
