Very nice . Are the DF03 rear springs stiffer than the BB stock ones ?

Yes.

BB, rear spring. Lenght 60 mm, wire 0.9 mm, 9.5 turns

DT03 rear spring. Lenght 63 mm, wire 1.1 mm, 13.5 turns

Runs nicely with a quick blast around the garden.
I’m going to enjoy this - just under £75 as you see it with a bundle of spares I can either use or sell on.
1st time I’ve used a Savox servo and Dirt Tuned motor, nice combo, turns quickly enough for me and pulls controllable wheelies.

Over time I’d like to think I’ll carry out the chassis and shock tower mod, but I’d like to add a little trim paint to the shell and get the driver in before doing anything else.

Looking good there . Nice to see you've got some run time in . I'd like to finish my BB body that's been in the body shop ( back room 👍) for major repairs , and get it stickered up .

I’d be interested in how you get on with the spring changes 👌

Cut the grass yesterday and gave the BB a spin just now, great fun, the DT motor on NiMH is a great combo for me.

I’d forgotten how much I enjoy this chassis, how rattly the body shell is and how much of the garden ends up in the tub 😂

Funny that you mentioned the tree Kev, the Blitzer has found that tree 3 times already 😂

Yeah, I've got a rotary washing line pole that was the nemesis of my S/Blitzer some years ago 👎

Great info and new to me, thank you.

Do  you fit the blanks instead of the kit discs and drill the amount and size of holes that you want?

Yeah the blanks have dimples to show you where to drill to an up to four hole pattern. Be careful to keep the drill nice and straight. I use a bench drill although that's not necessary.

You do need suitably sized bits of course. If you haven't got some then a kit like this might be handy:

https://www.racing-cars.com/1-10th-touring/mi7/piston-drilling-kit-1-1-1-8mm-8-bits-cr233

Really the main reason I used these blanks is because there's nothing much else available for the Tamiya short CVA 11mm bore, but it's also no problem and kind of nice to be able to adjust your own, so in future I'll keep using them. Any well fitting pistons should give a noticeable improvement over kit ones.

Thank you, great info to work with.

I bought a small hand drill last week with bits for the shock towers and chassis drill through - it could be perfect for this mod too 👍

Hi Kev, hope all is good with you.

Have you tried out this DF03 springs yet?

My current set up feels good enough for me, just hooning around the garden, but’ll it nice to fit CVA’s all round.

Hi Si. All good mate , I trust all is well you and yours . I've fitted them but not run it , the whole set up with the new springs feels more positive without the use of the spacers , so probably a good default setting . Not had time to run it yet 👍

For the moment, we’ll call this one done.

Otherwise I’ll be twaddling about on it forever!

It is now my dedicated Dad runner, it came with lots of spares and I’ve also used things up from my own spares which always makes happy 😂

Medium to long term plans, few more stickers, possibly a DF03 shock spring set, patina paint job, maybe some LEDS and the shock tower and chassis mods.

Overall it owes me £60, which also makes me very happy, the small wins help balance the losses 🤦‍♂️ - Tamiya Maths 🤫

For now my go to garden runner and occasional outings is where we are at.

@jonboy1 if you see this come up in the For Sale section then quite rightly you can give me a roasting 👍

Had quite a few of these over the years, probably into double figures, so clearly I like this chassis 😎

There are lots of very good YT videos of the BB, this one is one of my favourites -

Great result and a very low end cost too Simon . I agree these are a good chassis and I like the stance on them . I can go with the 'patina' body look  . I've still got the VeeDub body on the bench that has been repaired / resurrected by me and I was toying with the idea of a worn look as I have a new in box re-re kit to make nice and shiny if I ever build it ;) . As you have found these are a very addictive chassis , along with the Stadium Blitzer and Thunder . I love that Bug in the video , the body finish is great

Thanks Kev, totally agree with you.

I’ve had 3 of the Thunders in the past and I don’t mind admitting I really like the neon wheels and decals on them 😎

The wheels remind me of the socks I used to wear BITD trying to be a cool teenager 😂.

Added a small number of random stickers to my BB, I read somewhere more stickers = more speed 😂

Looking good there .  Who's in the driving seat ?, is he the stock wheel man ? . Have you run this yet and which motor have you ended up with ? . I haven't got the body sprayed on mine yet , I have done more prep on the previous front crash damage to a point where I'm happy with it . I changed the front springs to the DF03 and used shorter damper lower eyes to lower the front stance , looks mean with TR15T style chrome wheels and tarmac tyres

Thanks Kev!

It’s the kit driver body, but some chap with a full face helmet, the drivers head has been so firmly stuck on I just went with it.

This is my go to back garden runner, I’m really enjoying it, I’m using a Dirt Tuned motor out of my spares and I like it a lot, very happy with the set up right now. Steel pinion, kit CVA’s up front, cheap alloy JK RC shocks at the back.

I did want to paint this one, but it had already  been poorly sprayed and the detail items have been glued in place.

For now as it’s my only runner, I’ll try and leave it alone…😂

Yours will look the dogs do das, painted, lowered and with the chrome wheels and street 😎

This is the driver Kev, came with a cockpit which didn’t get used, made me think of a Striker and I also used a set of ReRe Sand Scorcher windows out of my spares as they already had some damage, thought I’d preserve the new BB window set -

Looks great . The problem I have is that I get a runner / beater then overdo the fixing up bit , then scared to run it . All my LBs are runners bar one , the Coors box . I have a 4wd SMT 2 speed nitro that is a great runner. Have fun Simon !!
