Are these Colors for for a Tamiya driver fiigure?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just bumped into these (see attachedspacer.png) with a low price and nice tiny cans. They were tagged as modeling colors.

Anyone knows this brand and can comment?

I intend to use them for the driver figure in an rc car.

Thanks

I used to use a lot of Revell stuff as a kid.  It wasn't the greatest quality, but I could ride my bike and get it at our local dept. store.  I had to get my parents to drive me to get better stuff at the Hobby Store.

I never had Revell cans, but I had Humbrol enamel in those mini cans.  It had the caps with numbers.

For general health reasons, I've switched over to Tamiya Acrylics for painting drivers.  But I liked uncapping, stirring and painting these.  Enamel is hardier.  I miss the smell too (bad for health, though.)  Now that I'm older, I'd wear a respirator in the room and use it only on a windy day so the wind would carry the fumes out.  Acrylic is alcohol based; far less toxic than enamel.  But if you use enamel once in a blue moon, why not?

Never used those before. For static modelling I have used Citadel, Vallejo, Humbrol and a couple of MG paints (all acrylic). The Vallejo dropper bottles are particularly useful.

I used them once and they'll do the job, but just be aware that they don't mix well with Tamiya paints.  In my experience, they reacted with PS spray paint.  So if you are using them, use them exclusively on the part you're painting e.g. driver helmet.

I have used those Revell enamel paints for the Tamiya driver figures, rally /touring car cockpits and also on top of lexan paints on lexan bodies.

Works great on any "hard" plastic, like the driver heads. On lexan, it will work to some degree on top of proper lexan paint. On unpainted lexan it will not stick at all.
