Fast Attack and Wild One have been some of my favorite Tamiya buggies for years. I've had some originals of both but sold / traded them off over the years.  Picked up this re-re FAV awhile back and just got around to finishing it up. Nothing too fancy, but a fun buggy. I started with Fast Eddy sealed bearings (a must have) and then a Hobbywing 1060 ESC.  One the ESC, I cut off the mini switch and soldered on a normal size switch so that I could mount it in the stock location in the bottom of the chassis tub with the rubber cover. I also had to lengthen the motor wires to reach the ESC, so I opted for some black wire to help them blend in to the buggy a bit better and crimped on new bullets. The 1060 was a tight fit under the driver so I trimmed the jumper pins down to help it fit better. I'm running a simple Futaba S3004 servo, Futaba 3PV transmitter with a Corona S-FHSS receiver.

Looks great. If I remember correctly the kit will be re-released in summer and I might get one to accompany my Wild One. :)

I think your right...due this summer I believe.

A very neat set of wires 👏

Thank You. I'm thinking about adding the LED light buckets to it, that will be a bit of a challenge to hide the wires and make them look decent I think

I really like military-type RC vehicles and am waiting for the Fast Attack Vehicle to be re-released.  In the meantime, I’ve been painting and racing my “Ripsaw” tanks.  (See pic). The tanks are cool but they just don’t go fast enough.  I want SPEED for my next RC project!

If I were to get a 2011 re-release Fast Attack Vehicle, can it be upgraded to a brushless motor?  In another forum post, somebody mentioned this motor might fit in place of the stock 540:  Brushless Tamiya Motor  I’ve never heard of anybody actually doing it, though.  It looks like a brushless 540 is hard to come by.  Every one is “Sold Out”!  Brushless 540 Motors

The Fast Attack Vehicle is a vintage RC that’s not designed for brushless but I really like it and want one that performs.  Has anybody upgraded  FAV?  Would the extra speed and torque make it unmanageable?  Would it destroy the gearing?

Disregard my earlier post.  I’m just going to build it stock when I do get a kit.  No motor upgrades - the more I think about it, the more I don’t want to do it.

I hope to build the 2011 version or the new one when it comes out, soon.

I got a toy grade version to hold me over.  Looking forward to building the kit, assembly and everything.

(Not related) I also repainted another RC Ripsaw tank Army green just because it’s fun to paint stuff in military colors!
