Oh my, that is tempting. I have a scruffy original, but I used to have a near-perfect one amd sold it, and have regretted it ever since. Might have to think about this one...

The RC10T Sport was the last RC I got before becoming a "poor college student" BITD. It was also "the one that got away" as it was the only vehicle from my youth that I sold in the earlier days of ebay. I was strapped for cash as a new home owner and foolishly believed I would only have Tamiyas in my stable so I sold it to buy the then-new Tamiya Twin Detonator. (facepalm) I did get a ton of use out of the Twin Det though at least.

I am tempted by this as well but as @Sogogi said, no spares, no deal. These somewhat pricey (IMO) re-releases or tributes with no spare support and bushings in the drivetrain lead me to think Associated has pegged the average purchaser of such items as "mantle-piece" collectors and not really runners. Perhaps its just from that and listening to the guys on podcast speak, but I get idea Associated might be right. I'm sure many would like to run them but I have a feeling more would be satisfied just building it as a display piece. I could be wrong. Despite the presence of shelf queens here on Tamiyaclub, there is plenty of photographic evidence of old Tamiyas and re-releases being run out there in the dirt.

I also can't shake the weird feeling these Chinese made are just simulacrums of the originals. I got that feeling when I rebuilt a first re-release RC10 Classic years ago. Something was just "off". Perhaps it was because the originals were such a "US-made" product - not the best QC and a little rough around the edges compared to a Tamiya or Kyosho but an absolute brilliant design successful at its purpose, winning races. Tamiyas/Kyoshos came from a mystery factory in a far-off land, perfectly packed, while I could "see" somebody in a California factory countersinking holes in that iconic aluminum tub chassis. I guess if I was serious about one, I'd get a used original with some history behind it to restore instead.

I'm sure parts will be available.....one way or another.

From what I've read from people who have spoken with AE/Thunder Tiger, spares haven't been confirmed for the RC10. This will likely be the same for the RC10T.

The oilite bushings are just AE being "true to the originals", or getting away with being cheap, they even run them in their (with friction shocks no less!) on-roaders. What surprises me is how few people complain about it vs other brands that use bushings on cheaper models.
