Following on from a previous post whereby I was looking for a couple of HPI bodyshells, A came across one of the site's sponsors Modelsport uK who had the items in stock. I signed up and ordered online on Saturday, received a cross-check telephone call yesterday, (Monday) and received the parcel this morning,(Tuesday)[:D][:D][:D]

The customer service was absolutely blinding.........thanks guys. [^][^][^]

.......but there's more. If you're a subscriber and quote your membership number on your order form then you will receive a 10% discount[8D][8D][8D]........one purchase and I've got 30% of my subscription fees back[:D][8D][:D][8D]

There are other stores that contribute to the site and offer similar discounts to members and if their service is as good as Modelsport UK then I can't think of a reason for not paying your subscription and taking advantage of the perks on offer....can you?

Welcome aboard!

I've been 'Aboard' since 2002!!........

My point was two fold: Firstly to mention the excellent service afforded to Modelsport uK and Secondly, it might prompt some of those people who come up with lame excuses for not subscribing, to subscribe.......three modest purchases and you've got your money back.

I've saved enough to subscribe for the next 20 years [;)]

Modelsport are dead great, the guys deserve a big pat on the back, but lets not forget James @ Fusion and The Shopkeeper @ Time Tunnel too!

Couldn't agree more with all thats been said. Even if you only ever buy one kit and radio gear you would probably get your TC subscription back right there on one purchase.

Since joining I have bought a fair bit of stuff from ModelSport, James @ Fusion and Neil @ Timetunnel. Without exception I have always got 1st class service from them all and wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them.

Its nice in this day and age to be able to have the choice of 3 uK based online retailers that not only give great service, but a discount too. Other sellers from outside the uK also offer excellent service and prices, (Jason and StellaModels spring to mind), but its great to be able to order one day and stuff arrive nearly next day!

Of course without Chris setting up TC in the first place the discounts would probably have never come into existance. I have saved many many times my TC subscription in discounts already - long may it continue!!!!

Glad its working out for you :D

I've actually tried lots of companies from all around the world, and posted open invitations for shops to contact me on this site, as well as asking members to get companies from anywhere in there world to drop me an email, but beside stella no-one seems interested. I'm surprised by how many just are not switched onto the whole global selling opportunity that the web provides.

I'll talk to anyone about giving discounts but I need help in finding the companies. Me just cold calling them out of the blue is just a none starter - members have to make contact, sell what a great place the club is to them and get the companies interested to contact me. Thats only half the story though, in that what we really ideally want is suppliers that will become part of the community, people that are as passionate about it as we are.

redfrits after reading netsmiths post I was also going to advise him to gt in touch with PK racing. I'm not living anywhere near it but it is just such a great shop/people and ofcourse that cool indoor track, I mean wich rc shop has it's own indoor track next to the shop its self? I have ordered several times from them and they are very realiable and helpfull.

I ordered the Ferrari 201 over there. Only EUR 149,--. Verry fast delivery. Never been in the shop actualy but heard verry good references from others.

Still have to go there since it is not far from where I work.

Now i don't want to be the critic out here or the bad guy (don't hit me :D )

But would hate to see tamiyaclub getting a big add-ing site, i would rather prefer

to pay (more) membership fee's than a homepage full of add's.

But... But.. that just me of course.

Now, go away with that stick... can't feel pain can't feel pain can't feel pain.. < autch!>

Hi Stefan,

Its not so much extra income as trying to get discount for our members. Don't worry anything I take on board will be subtle and not over take the site.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, but what would really help is if there was someone local to them or regular customer that recommends us to them first, rather than me dropping in on them from out of the blue and trying to sell the site in english to them. Get them interested and checking out the site and tell them to drop me an email.

Heres some hand stats to throw into the converstation, we now average over 6000 visitors a day, adverts are roughly displayed to people nearly 2 million times a month and probably most telling is that no advertiser we have ever taken on board has ever left, so it must be doing something for their business. :D

Cheers

chris
