@wtcc5 I managed to combine what's currently built along with what's next to be built, organized mostly around original release dates of models and where I had room to stack. Then I ran out of wall space in the current Hobby room. It'll work for now I guess, but I'm brainstorming what my next move is because what's shown here is ~ 90 models, which means ~ 70 more kits and projects in boxes are stacked here and there.

my collection has now officially grow too big

I would say in relation to @lentner3 it all depends on why you feel your collection is too big. Sometimes people feel they have sunk too much money into the hobby and need finance for other reasons and in this situation I would let common sense decide if I needed the money then selling what are ultimately my toys would be a must.

However another reason people feel they need to downsize is because they are running out of storage space. If this is the case perhaps investigating storage solutions is worth considering. I remember seeing a photo from someones hobby room on this forum (apologies, I forget who) and they had a couple of cars above the door and it made me realise in my small house that the area above picture rails to ceiling was unused space. In fact I dont store much of anything above the picture rail height anywhere in the house. So I bought a sheet of thick acrylic and made a shelf above the door in my little den. It suddenly gave me a bunch of extra storage space that worked so well I am planning on putting similar shelves in other rooms in the house like above the bed.

These are amazing collections.

I downsized my collection by 1/2 2 years ago.

Sold NIB kits, projects and parts. raised over £5k.

Don’t feel regret often, still have lots.

Perfect excuse to show some of my collection again

For the shelf queens, put in glass shelves. For others, put a few in every room. Kids bedrooms are good. Study room is good. Living room is good. Garage with some transparent tarpaulin is good. Anywhere and everywhere is good. (note : do seek the approval of one's significant other prior to execution to avoid the pain of loss)

some of my collection

Very smart displays. Whats the 6 wheeled shiny red chassis in the last picture? It doesnt look like a G6-01.

So since this thread has popped up again, I might as well come clean: Remember when I said I had enough, and wasn't going to buy anything else? Since then, my collection has shrunk by one... and grown by three, soon to be four.

I went looking for Futaba FX10 parts to finally complete an old project. Basically I just needed a set of good front wheels. I found an FX10 with a parts lot on eBay for cheap ($110) that looked like it included an extra pair of new front wheels. Well, no; it included one new front wheel, one broken one, and two reasonably good but painted silver ones on the car. And the rest of the car is way too nice to be a parts car. So now I have two FX10 projects, and still not enough front wheels.

While browsing, I found two other cars, a tatty and completely incorrect Traxxas Hawk, and an actually really nice MRC/Academy MT-10M, that both had cool '90s paint jobs. Had to have them. No buyer's remorse over either one, because they're both really cool and the Hawk is going to be an interesting project, but they do take up space.

And when I say "take up space," I don't necessarily mean just physical space. I'm finding I have a limit to how many models I can care about at one time, how many projects I can keep straight. I've put some stuff away again, and for the most part out of sight is out of mind, but I still have a lot of cars that need my attention. It's hard, sometimes, to focus on one project when I'm out in my workshop. I'll tinker with this car for a while, then catch something else out of the corner of my eye that I want to do to another car, and move over to that one, then very nearly get the parts mixed up between the two projects and have to spend time separating them again. I have to keep reminding myself that there's no rush or pressure to get any of this done; it's supposed to be fun and relaxing (and it is), and I literally have the rest of my life to do it.

But eventually, you start to think, "No, I really don't have space, on the shelf or in my head, for anything else. It's time to put a cap on it." And then you get an offer from a seller for a Kyosho Raider that you looked at a while back, and it's a good price for a pretty nice example, and you really did want another Raider.

It's supposed to arrive Saturday. N+1, right? I really should just stop looking.

I know what you mean, bought a TT02 and just keep buying bodies. The spares and tuning options are somewhat cheap and I still get to see diffrent cars. Still know I want a hopper I just cant help it lol.

5 cars is enough for me. I dont wanna be subject to angry talks again when my hobby slowly crawls into the living room.

This is exactly why I have reduced my collection from 82 (I think) at its height to the 12 I now have. Just couldn't care about them all. It was draining. Plus, I now have them on display rather than hidden in the loft. I'm sure I'll buy more, and the cycle will continue. But for now, I feel relieved of the burden.

Should be noted that I made good money from the sales which I have spent on a holiday with my wife.

Now this I can relate to.

Purchased from a model maker  - Same guy I picked up the JPS from. Here's part of his story behind it:

" This is built as a Replica of the 1989 March / Porsche 89P Quaker State Porsche Indy Car built from a Tamiya 1/10 Lola T94/00 high downforce road course configuration. Custom Built for a display case in a Porsche Service Center. I created this custom build in 1995 to be displayed at local Porsche service center owned by a friend of mine. It was on display for over twenty years in a glass case. It is built on the F103L chassis and is based on the Road Course wing set on the March 89P car . . . The model was returned to me a few years ago and has been in storage since. This is the only one I have ever seen . . . Research (Google) the Porsche 89P . . . It took a lot of work to identify and find the decals on this Model. I am pretty sure it is almost impossible to find any of them after all these years. Some of them I had to actually have made for this project. "
