Sometimes when reading posts on TC I come across mention that over time the plastics deteriorate and how old shelf queens become brittle and so on. A browse on the internet showed various sellers of aluminium and carbon fibre chassis frames for various cars. For example https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186260209057

Has anyone had any experience with these? Are they a good or bad idea? I realise they are quite pricey which is a downside but ignoring that for a moment Would they help the longevity of a car? Do they adversly affect the performance of a car? Does carbon fibre deteriorate with age the same as plastic? I'm after any thoughts please.

I've been curious about those as well. Someone here is building a Wild One using one, I think? I'm sorely tempted to try; I have a Lunchbox in parts minus the tub.

Bezerk is one to look at if you want carbon fibre. They're based in Australia and have a huge range of parts for various cars, and it looks like they are going through the vintage/rere catalogue now making parts.

I've bought small bits from them, that's t bars for TRF102 and shock towers for AE B6 and great service etc. I would be looking at them for a Top Force, Super Astute etc build

Although it seems a bit wrong to be taking a vintage car and brining it up to modern standards for vintage racing...

I've got a few of the Kingfly RC Chassis. I've so far built he Wild One and Lunchbox. I have a Grasshopper and a Fighting Buggy chassis to do in the near future. Yes, they are quite pricey, but the reason I bought them is because all my cars a frequent runners, and I've broken the 2x Wild One chassis, and 1 Lunchbox chassis so far, and not from heavy bashing. So, as I like running these vehicles, I thought I'd replace any week parts on them with parts I'd hopefully never need to buy again. I guess you could say, 'A chassis for life, not just for Christmas'.
