You guys have been superb at helping me with my MF and GH in the last 2 weeks.

Would you do the same again please on this kit as welI?

I bought this MB-01 kit a few weeks back, good value, gorgeous body and something new for me to build.

What are the string points and what are the weak points to be aware of?

Any particular Hop Ups required?

It came with bearings and a standard silver can.

Without shims or metal "low friction balls", the plastic pivot balls will wear quickly and pop out, some M chassis wheels don't fit over the suspension arms (thus limiting your choices in an already limited field), and finding a "good" pinion gear replacement isn't easy.

I didn't like mine, and they're quite poor value imo. The old M06 is a better entry level M chassis.

If you plan to build it as a rear wheel drive, you’ll need 54995 rear tires and inserts (53204) that come standard on the M06. The tires included in the kit are fine if built as a front drive, they’re basically useless in RWD format.

The other things you’ll want bearings obviously, oil shocks (54753). Beyond that 54559 x 2 is a good idea but not strictly needed. You could get some universal drive shafts, but it does work without them.

I’ve got a partially built TT02D, which looks like it might have the recommended shock set, I’ve got the tyre foams and there’s a slim chance I’ve got a set of the right tyres as well.

I’ll need to check my spares at the weekend 👍

You’ll only need sticky tyres on the rear. The stock tyres are fine up front. If you put sticky tyres on front and back really that just puts you back in the stock position. The m06 comes with hard slippery tyres up front and grippy ones out back. It works well.

Motor choice?

It came with standard silver can.

I’ve got a Torque Tuned and Sports Tuned in my spares stash.

If you get the tires i listed, you can put something pretty hot in there no worries (10.5t or 3500kv brushless if you like). But if you keep the stock tires and go rwd, the motor it comes with is probably too much.

Great, thank you.

Back home now and my wife is out this evening, so I’ll check my ‘T’ spares see what tyres and shocks I have in stock 👍

To save the tires, you can also adjust the gear ratio. I drive my MB01 with 58t (TT01) spur gear and 31t pinion and a 10.5t motor.

I’ve just checked my spares -

3 x ESC’s to choose from.

3 x different Tamiya motors to choose from.

I’ve got a brushless, ESC & fan combo.

Servos.

Newly built shock set off a TT02D - 54573.

Set of (4) New 53204 sponges.

Tyres though are (4) 50568 M - chassis radials.

If you think these tyres would be a worth while swap - that leaves paint, low friction balls and a Steel pinion.
