Yokomo YZ-10 re-release

Recommended Posts

This could maybe have gone in the YZ-870C thread, but technically it’s still a ‘different’ buggy, so is probably worthy of its own discussion.

AE have combined with Yokomo as they did back in the day and brought back the YZ-10. Which of course is basically a rebodied YZ-870C.

I prefer the weird body of the 870C to the more generic look of the YZ-10, but the white wheels are more appealing. Hopefully the body and wheels make it to the shops as spares.

I ordered one today. I was going to get a Super dogfighter eventually but I like the white wheels and this body style. Looking forward to this kit.

To be honest, I can't quite understand AE's strategy:
First comes the RC10 Classic, far too hesitant, too few units to even come close to covering the success in the market for it.
Then the Worlds is pushed forward, probably in 5 times the quantity, in the hope of doing everything right now. Unfortunately, the success is not nearly as great as with the Classic, the Worlds is downright sold off.
Then nothing for ages.
Now, for the 60th anniversary, they're making a big splash. One model after the other is churned out, the customer barely has time to recover financially from the purchase before the next model is produced.

Don't get me wrong here- i'am as happy as most of you to see all these cars back again ! But i am not sure this is a good idea how AE is proceeding here. In my opinion is is evident to leave a certain gap of time before releasing the next product if you want to succeed on the market. Flooding the market is a killer.

JC Racing Products make white dish rims for the Yokomo. Also available in yellow and pink. :)

It sounds like they aren't done yet either. Won't be surprised to see another run of the Worlds Car, and also maybe the Team Car and Graphite after that.

They are releasing them a little fast. Fan RC is strait running away with their money with the Graphite Worlds car (really a graphite team car).   Maybe AE woke up and sees a viable market.

A YZ10 is just AE version of the dog fighter, right?  Same cars, slight differences and body I would guess.

I guess, I thought the YZ10 was different too. My memories from RCcaraction recall the YZ10 being the car to beat.

Yep, I think the big thing was that the dampers were a bit updated.

I think less neon, which hadn’t really caught on quite as loudly in the US until the 90s got a bit more underway, and the squared out body were the main market changing improvements that AE influenced. Some more carbon IIRC as well, and a hefty price tag due to the prize-winning design demand. It was light, let rocks into your drivetrain because nothing spells professional louder than injecting sand and pea gravel into your transmissions, and then of course we all dyed our wheels pink and chartreuse to make sure maximum funk was obtained anyways.

One of our users recently posted a lovely Worlds version on their 870c and it caught my attention. I’d forgotten how Chonky the YZ-10 was but that Worlds body was neat—more flare towards the rear wheels and intriguing engine block like humps behind the cab and importantly—some radiused edges. All of them usually had good undertrays, too. Brittle suspension parts, though that was addressed later on.

Crap, now I need this one again too. Bad time to have no toy budget. Hopefully we’ll see inventory carry for a while. And wow, real dirt tires again. Bravo! @kyosho do you see? DIRT tires on off-road ReRes! How strange!

I wouldn't say that they're flooding the market when most of the releases are limited editions. Releasing one after the other is a trick to pressure everyone from one macguffin to the next.

Honestly, I'm just tuned out at this point. Are these meant for racing or just obsessive collectors?

@markturbo anymore picture's?  hopefully hitting our shores in Europe in the next few weeks! Although basically a yokomo super dogfighter with a light touch of team associated it was the best build I’ve ever done so I’m looking forward to building it (again:rolleyes:

@markturbo absolutely stunning seriously cool:wub: the RC10 shocks look the part that’s good call putting them on! Did they go straight on with no mods?

Nice job! Gosh that looks fantastic.

And wow, that car sure brings back memories as it was my last buggy until 2007. I do hope that they stay in stock for awhile as I’m a bit knocked down and had to reign in the re-re disease for the time being.

Stock up on front A arms. That’s what ultimately led to me abandoning my original.

@markturbo Excellent! I love that color. I'm fighting the urge to grab the YZ-10, but it's a harder sell as I have the 870C here waiting in the queue. We'll see how long I can hold out.
