Hi all, Im back again with a new quick build. After a brief hiatus, Ive been modeling a lot and now been constantly tinkering with the all the little mechanical bits on the nitro models. This is what the rc hobby is really to me. Its about trying new things and experimenting and finding new ways to build or fix or modify. Its really fun to be building something that is so analogue and not just "Ok I got the chassis all put together now time to slap some electronics into it and its done". The problem solving and mechanical and tuning challenges are really part of the fun for me. Theres something just so satisfying about everything working well together and a good tune. The goal for this GT build was tentatively to attend the Adam Drake gas truck race, but I was not ready in time. Still got a very sound and good running GT out of it and can get a wide range of engine setups to work in it now. So overall Id say a success.

So, here some models Ive been building recently, I know Tamiya club doesn't have a sub forum for static model but maybe a thread here and there somewhere for me to lurk

Heres the RC10GT I built, well more so cleaned up and got running. A ebay purchase for an alright amount and the engine seemed promising. Unfortunately the engine was starting to spin one of the bearings so I went down the road of getting a "SG" crank style engine to work in the GT. If many of you are not aware, the GT was never offered with a SG crank option and used a pilot shaft. It took a bit of fiddiling and parts from 3 different companies to get the engine to line up and work with the stock mount. Then in order to use a slide carb, I had to get some different linkage parts from dubro, and some bike spokes for linkages for a custom linkage set. I used the Associated slide carb linkage instructions to build my new throttle and brake linkages. Right now it has a SH .15 in it but I got a Force .12 Pro coming to see if that wakes it up a bit more. Finally to finish it off some new trinity and proline tires.  I custom painted a body which was a nice way to see some improvement in my airbrushing skills from doing the static models.

Hope you all enjoy and a having a great summer, Got more nitro fun stuff on the way. Ill do a more in depth update style thread if theres any interest.

I really admiring your airbrush skills. That is very impressive. I like the technical aspect of those nitro trucks and sometimes think about getting one just for restoration. But then I have no place to run it and all my fleet is electric powered.

I would like to see some pics of the chassis without the body.

I'm in a "where have you been all of my life moment" with RC10s.  Would love to see some details of your Gt refresh.

Thanks guys for the kind words. So the pictures do give the body too much justice but im happy  with it and had fun. Yes the RC10 chassis were really something special. The RC10 GT just drives so nice, its planted and nimble and loves to just rip around. Really just a dream to drive and the gas motor makes it that much better.

Heres some pictures of the chassis for you guys. Pretty simple build if you ask me, it came with the team rear shocks and I put in the cvd's, new electronics, reciever box, header and the engine. Its nothing special but I love it, and cant wait to drive it some more, thats all that counts right?

Heres my custom made clutch setup: Traxxas revo flywheel, Traxxas Clutch, Hpi pilot nut, Racers edge clutch bell for the original tmaxx and two 5x8 bushings as spacers. Finally a good use for all those 5x8 bushings am I right? And the best part is Traxxas clutch shoes are like 7 bucks instead of the insane prices people are charging for the original GT teflon clutch shoes.
