I think after I finish my current builds...and my next one...I'll be pulling one of my TA02T's off the shelf. I really like this build.

@Tbird232ci: Happy to hear that :) The look of these Stadium Trucks is already very nice, but after I took it for an easy track stroll, it gained a spot in my heart for being so much fun.

I continued with hexes and tyres:

With body:

The car is not completed, yet, but I had to wait for the rest of the tuning parts and/or parts for these Hop-Ups. These then arrived so I could continue.

Black aluminum motor mount by Xtra Speed:

Looks 1:1 like the Tamiya original:

This is a good time to add the tougher drive shaft outdrive to the rear gear box:

Now to a very important upgrade - Adjustable camber links. It should be an easy thing, but for TA-02/FF-01 cars it is always a stretch. Problem is the kit use of fitting bolts. So if you do a carbon shock tower conversion and a camber link conversion, you need shims and shorter fitting bolts. You also need super short turnbuckles (18mm):

IMG-8918.jpg

The rear was no problem:

IMG-8919.jpg

IMG-8920.jpg

IMG-8921.jpg

The shocks will need a bit of spacing...

Back to the front, I added the front one-way:

IMG-8923.jpg

IMG-8924.jpg

IMG-8925.jpg

The camber links then made more problems. First, I didn't have another pair of short step screws and then the camber link length is much too short to use turnbuckles... I decided to use the longer touring car front arms:

IMG-8928.jpg

IMG-8929.jpg

Which then also required to change the cardans back to 44mm:

IMG-8930.jpg

After adding both adjustable camber links and steering links:

@ruebiracer: The rear stabi mount is a 1:1 copy 3D printed. The rear track width will be adjusted with shims for the moment. Maybe I make a design with longer arms later...

I really like the 90s period of Tamiya. They made a lot of special parts for their chassis. I love all the wheel designs, but also details like the different bumper designs of this line of stadium trucks.

The Chevy S10 and the Toyota Prerunner came with the Escort Rallye car bumper:

IMG-8932.jpg

The Ford F-150 and the Desert Fielder came with a narrow TC-style bumper:

IMG-8933.jpg

I chose the former:

IMG-8934.jpg

The front gear box housing was also prepared for the aluminum support (three holes).

IMG-8935.jpg

Now to a very nice Hop-Up

IMG-8936.jpg

I had these planned for another project, that then didn't need them and now can be used here.

Oh man this is just beautiful. I have been slowly working on a hop up F150, but this takes the cake! I’m just not sure what it is but those shocks with the yellow springs really tie it all together!👏

This is a very clean and well thought out build. I love it.

I'm very curious to know how the sway bars change the handling. Mine was mostly stock and it liked to traction roll. I wonder the bars will prevent that.

@Tbird232ci: I think a front sway bar is much more effective than my rear bar in the mentioned case. A front anti-roll-bar setup is much harder to implement on this chassis...

A bit of waiting time, but now the transformation of this chassis can continue.

This week bodies and decals arrived:

IMG-9106.jpg

Even though I ordered just one of each (left: Chevrolet S10, right: Toyota Prerunner), TBG send two of each  What a lovely gift!

I couldn't wait longer today and already cut both:

IMG-9123.jpg

IMG-9117.jpg

Then I had a simple idea of how to make the car wider in the rear: Super Astute/Dyna Blaster rear hubs. It is nearly "plug and play". I had to replace the 39mm cardan with the standard 44mm again and use a slimmer ball bearing on the inside of the hub (3mm instead of 4mm):

IMG-9115.jpg

IMG-9116.jpg

Now the width is perfect:

Spend the day with making the Prerunner body. Masking and painting alone took 4.5 hours. All the additional number signs and sticker another four hours... Not sure if I am slow or if you guys need also that amount of time. At least I wouldn't earn nothing as a body painter

The outcome is super beautiful:

And on the chassis it looks even better:

Looks great, perfect shell to finish it off, the prerunner is my favorite of the Trio. I am definitely inspired to put some love into my S10 and F150. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys!

A little teaser for what will come here next:

IMG-9143.jpg

I painted the S10 this afternoon. This shell was much faster to mask than the Prerunner. Everything went well and this rattle can paint job came out flawless.

Tomorrow is sticker day!

The stickers are on :)

It was a comparable easy job. Only the red lightnings made me sweat shortly, but then sat perfect in the first try. Unfortunately (again) MCI had one „BFGoodrich“ sticker in black and not white as needed…

It became very beautiful and looks a bit more scale than the Prerunner. It also looks very good with the wide suspension:

Recently I stumbled over a problem: I have two brand new bodies for one chassis

That is kind of sad. I started looking for chassis on the net, but couldn’t bring myself to buy one as I own too much cars already.

IMG-9167.jpg

So yesterday I went through my FF-01/TA-02/DF-01 stuff and sourced parts. I found nearly everything needed to build a full car. Only missing are rear diff internals, outdrives for front and rear diffs and 4mm E-clips. Just for show I bought the branded rubber tires and new wheels. I read that the front diff fits in the rear too. As I found two front diffs, one will move into the rear.

I found silver gear boxes, a black new tub, red and blue hubs and red/silver/black shock towers. A colorful combination is on my list for this build. A set of yellow plastic dampers would be nice… but which chassis used those in yellow?

As far as I can see: Super Shot, Boomerang, Manta Ray and TT-02B uses yellow dampers, but if anything fits from those, no idea! :D

(I did a search on Tamico, so take that with a grain of salt - you know much better than I do ...)

@JimBear: I looked up the TT-02B dampers and they look like what I am after :) Ordered them!

Thanks for the fast suggestion!

The rest of the parts arrived this afternoon and I started the build after the Moto GP sprint race. This will be a mix of manual and freestyle build.

It starts with the rear gearbox in grey metallic and the front diff that will be placed there:

IMG-9182.jpg

I will use the yellow-grey metallic Team Orion motor as it fits very nicely in the color scheme.

IMG-9183.jpg

Now the first contrast colors come. Red for the damper stay and blue for the hubs:

IMG-9184.jpg

IMG-9185.jpg

In front the differential came from a bag of old parts I once bought very cheap. It was very dirty but cleaned looks close to new:

IMG-9186.jpg

IMG-9188.jpg

The rest of the gear box internals are spares from other projects.

IMG-9189.jpg

Front suspension:

IMG-9190.jpg

Original red steering blocks paired with blue c-hubs:

IMG-9191.jpg

This build seems to go on faster than thougth...

Color number five:

IMG-9192.jpg

I used all internals from the old shocks. To my surprise the green bladders were still in a very good condition!

IMG-9193.jpg

Installing to the front and rear units:

IMG-9194.jpg

Fun fact: You can see the black piston moving in the yellow body.

Next on the list is the steering assembly:

IMG-9195.jpg

With the tub ready, the units get attached. I tried to fit the Hop-Up shaft, but it is too short...

IMG-9197.jpg

The correct bumper is a must:

IMG-9198.jpg

... and the last step before the grand final: Tyres and wheels

It struck me looking at it now, that it reminds me of the circus. ... red, yellow and blue. A very happy-looking build, I'd say. :)

@JimBear: Yeah, I have to think of a beach ball or „My first Sony“ products all the time

Grande finale! Enjoy:
