I'm building a CC-02 Land Cruiser right now. It appears there was an intent to introduce a slipper clutch at some point. Was one ever made?

Also, I wasn't planning on adding any major upgrades other than bearings and maybe some softer tires. BUT! I just finished building the shocks and I was disappointed that they are the cheap nailhead piston/shaft combo. I mean, Tamiya includes most of the parts for a normal set of shocks but can't provide 4 regular shock shafts and 8 e-clips? Anyways, I'm really only going to be driving this in the backyard so it's not like I need high performance. I do like to have options to make adjustments. I did see in another thread where someone had twisted the universal shafts. :o So, the question is should I upgrade the shocks? Add the optional metal CVD shafts?

Sounds like you’re off to a good start. I built one last year and only added ball bearings, geared it low and locked both diffs. Drives everywhere I want it to go and has been a blast.

I have metal drive shafts in mind, but I don’t usually bother with hop-ups until the original parts break. I haven’t noticed any limitations with the shocks.

The only thing I’d really like to upgrade first is softer chunkier tires, but the stock ones are good for now.

Get new tires and/or new beadlocks with tires.

The drive shafts will twist.  Upgrade with the CR01 shafts.

Shocks are same as 50520 if you want the internals.

Adding weight helps a lot.

Very unlikely, I can't imagine a CC-02 ever needing a slipper clutch since it's not designed for big jumps.

I would buy some softer tires (probably something non-Tamiya), and just upgrade things as stock parts wear out.
