Hi all

I picked up a grand hauler and tanker trailer from a tc member and loving it so far just running it but slowly finding a few small faults but easily fixed, my plan is to move the speaker so I can install an interior I need to get one first, then possibly get king hauler rear mudguards add a few more lights make the arm to go on 5th wheel to drop the legs on the trailer, do a rear deck plate and then possibly respray it, that's the plan so far but I'm sure things will change as I go along

I've now changed the motor to a carson poison it's much better to control now,I just can't get first gear to engage properly I've tried adjusting the arm but still not working,at least with the cab off I was able to have a good look inside so I can see what to move around and improve the electrics to tidy them up and add an interior

@Ploots, have you tried adjusting the end points/limits of your gear change servo? Or maybe the trim? Chuck some pictures up if your rig when you get a chance so we can admire it too B)...they are great fun.

If it has a MFC, I would retry setting the MFC over again. That should set the end points for the transmission to your transmitter. If still off the servo has an adjustment on the servo horn. It is a fine adjustment only. I've never had to bend the linkage. Just some thoughts. If you don't have the instructions for the MFC, you can get them online. It will set the end points for all 4 servos to transmitter. Since all radio's are a little different.

If you change the speaker box, the sound will not as good. But the cab is kind of a speaker box.

if your talking about putting motorized support legs in it the tanker is a hard one to do after built, but carefully can be done. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Hi thanks for the info my controller only has trim adjustment not digital to do epa,im thinking i might get a flysky fs i6x, it has the mfc03 in it and already has motorised legs but only on the switch I want it to drop the legs when hitching and un hitching using the remote, I've now got an interior on its way and some plastic sheet to do a deck plate and false wall in the cab so I can move the mfc around and watching Teri Wilde on YouTube she uses a lcd tv speaker which is same ohms and Watts but much smaller put in the sleeper cab

MFC's were made for radio's that were non digital, so no problem there. The MFC-03 has more set up steps to it then MFC-01. Download the manual or maybe you have it. push and hold the mfc setup button for I think 5 secs. and the MFC will go to default setting. Then do step one (with the 4 sticks) and see if shifting gets better. if not , one of the steps is for the shifting. Try that if you want. Sometimes they get set wrong or not at all. The first step (with 4 stisks) is the important one.

Too small a speaker and your sound will suffer. Sounds like you are going to make parts for the 5th wheel. that might not be so easy. If you go with kit parts it takes two spruse's + small parts and will cost almost as much as the whole leg kit.

Good luck hope this helped.

Thanks I will try a reset as I do have the manual, it is going into the gears but 1st is hit and miss it moves along but it sounds like it keeps jumping out of gear,

It's just a short arm that's missing on the 5th wheel

There is also 2 servo mounts,  longer link arm, and maybe more. I forget exactly, it's been a while since I have done one. It is nice to be able to it from remote.------ Good luck with it.

All the rest is there I can uncouple it from remote but have to put the legs down by the switch on the trailer

For the transmission. There is a small shaft through the trans and comes out both sides. Remotely look to see if the "C" clip just touches the side of the transmission on both sides. ( First and Third) Thats how it should be adjusted. Not ramming it and pushing farther. (both sides) If it is good than I would look for somthing else than the shifting part.  If not try to set with trim. The three sets of gears inside are always in mesh so stripping shouldn't be an issue. If that looks set right, it could always be something in the transmission not right? Parts missing or out of place/miss derection.  Any qustions ask.

Morning Jeff, glad to hear you have some plans for her :)

I tend to use 2nd gear, at least I think it’s second gear? Straight up on the left stick? The Carson motor is perfect for this.

Agree with what others have said on the radio side of things, stick to analog style - unless you are following Teri Wildes videos as she is great for the tutorials!

I havn’t had any luck tracking down a fifth wheel bit yet, my Scania doesn’t have one either.

Hi all just a small update the wiring is now all tided up spiral wrapped and holes drilled through cross members and threaded through, extra lights in front and rear bumper, cab and sleeper separated easier to access mfc now, a much smaller speaker fitted and sounds as good if not a bit better that original chunky one, some de chroming done so I can colour code some parts and I think that's about it for now, I'll get some pictures up soon
