part identification help please!

Bit odd this: I've used this spindle in my FAV build but I have no idea where it came from.

It's obviously a front 2WD spindle pre-hex design, but I've gone through all my old manuals and for the life of me I can't work out where it originates from.

I'm guessing I've pressed it out of a hub?

If anyone can help I'd be tremendously grateful!

I am by no means certain, but off the top of my head, it looks like it might be the spindle portion of a two-piece knuckle as used on some F1 chassis?

The flat and the E-clip groove have me wondering if it might actually be a gearbox shaft for something. Flat-sided shafts usually mean they're intended to be driven by a gear. Could be an intermediate shaft of some kind? But if so, I have no idea what car it's from.

After more trawling through my manuals I found it!

An Astute of course! Like I wouldn't pick one of the rarest parts not out there to use!!
