I was just going to ask, where has this been announced?

It hasn't officially but I work in the trade so we get inside info. Information supplied direct from Tamiya.

I jumped on one originally but I am very happy for the spares for my vintage Astute and Super Astutes……

A Rere Super Astute is great news for us with Astutes, Super Astutes, and those who missed it last time. If you have a King cab or monster racer the transmission is a drop in and handles modern HP easily.

I'm glad it's back. It's odd though that we don't get the Dyna Storm that everyone really wants

Still thankful for this one.

What are we thinking for price? $250 US?

Dyna Storm could be back next year for the big anniversary?  But who knows!

I'm thinking the Super Astute is going to be a £275-£300 kit in the UK.

Pricing will be interesting, it was expensive first time around, from memory the spares  on eBay took a long time to be available

I remember the same for price. Here in America due to Tamiya USA spares were readily available. I built 2 spare gearboxes for ~50 each.

This is great news. I have one NIB and one built, but have been scared to use them as I'm not sure on spares. Maybe time to build the NIB

Why oh why couldn't they have just released the original Astute instead of this one again? They really drop the ball sometimes.

Wasn't the original Astute's rear hub/knuckle design somewhat weak? I also posit that Tamiya is staying far away from the old bolt-together shim style ball diff that the Madcap, Astute, Egress, King Cab, etc used. The Egress re-re received entirely new diffs for example. As of yet, Tamiya appear unwilling to offer a complete re-design of the rwd version leading to fans bemoaning the lack of a King Cab re-re, etc.

I'm not saying there are not half a dozen ways around this like substituting the Super Astute gearbox or even just offering the Super Astute with standard Astute livery, the correct wheels/tires and yellow CVAs but perhaps that is a stretch too far from what differentiates the Super Astute from the standard one.

I found a re-re a year or so ago for an OK price , still NIB.  Will be interesting to see the price on this re-re release.

What I mean is they should have released the original Astute, using this Super Astute chassis but with the OG decals, wheels, tyres and yellow CVAs. That would satisfy all but the most hardcore purists IMO.
