actualday 11 Posted August 5, 2024 A few ago I’d had to reluctantly part with my Tamiya collection, all of it, except one or two box wrenches… such were the financial hardships I was experiencing - it really felt like I’d lost my history… gutted. …but like the Madcap slogan went “Don’t Give Up” I didn’t give up during those hardships. to restart my return to the Tamiya hobby I’d really like to source a set of the yellow and black Avante cam lock Wheels if anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d be much obliged. after a very tough few years it’s finally good to be back 😃🙏 (apologies I borrowed a library stock picture of a Avante wheel of a TamiyaClub member)
toyolien 6958 Posted August 5, 2024 Tamico have the yellow wheels, and black camlocks in stock. You'll just struggle to find the 2x11mm screws that hold the camlocks to the rims.

You'll just struggle to find the 2x11mm screws that hold the camlocks to the rims. I just picked up a set of camlock wheels and the black camlocks. I found that a M2x 5mm hex head cap screw on each side of the cam lock works just fine instead of the rare M2x11mm screw pins that Tamiya supplies. For reference, most alloy clamping drive hexes use an M2x 5mm hex head cap screw.
Marchie 215 Posted August 8, 2024 That’s helpful info, I just recently had to drill-out the cam locks to fit regular m2 screws in. Works fine but a little nerve-racking with relatively rare parts…
Killajb 1715 Posted August 8, 2024 @Marchie I didn't have to drill our the cam lock parts at all, I just held the cam lock in place and got the M2x5 socket head cap screw started and allow it to thread its way into the cam lock.
