Hex/wheel setup and livery suggestions for the Cuda VTA body on a TT02R

Recommended Posts

Any suggestions on a livery using 3 colors for this body?

I want to use these wheels and tires from protoform on my Tamiya TT02R. But my question is what width hex adapters should I use to get a setup that makes the wheels sit as close to the fenders as possible? (Using 31mm wheels for the back and 26mm for the front). But I have read that these tires are not very grippy, are there any tires that have more grip than the VTA ones that fit the 31/26mm rims? (going to be running it on the street)

The VTA tires a purposely not very grippy as they are intended to be the control tires for VTA racing, which is typically the slowest class at a lot of clubs. They still provide plenty of performance... VTA racing is not exactly slow!

Unfortunately there are not a lot of high performance tires in 26mm nor 31mm anymore. Tamiya used to have 26mm and 32mm Super Slicks and Super Grip Radials but they are now discontinued. You might find some old stock good tires on eBay, such as the Tamiya "Type A" in 26mm but you will not find anything in 31 or 32mm. I have researched this extensively for my Porsche RSR which uses 26mm front/32mm rear. I think your best bet is still going to be the VTA tires; also they obviously look the part with that VTA body :) If you are just running on the street you will not need anything else, especially as the TT-02 is AWD and therefore very easy to drive and forgiving.

I have found these: https://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/160208

Or

Dont know which would have more grip since one is semi slick and the other is slicks but they are vintage slicks.
