tamiya 47508 1/10 Porsche 956 coming!

Recommended Posts

I definitely want one of these (maybe 2).  My R91CP was getting lonely.  I have been wanting Tamiya to make a 1/10th scale version of this car for soooo long.

I'd buy a whole set of Group C cars just to display if I could.  They always look great even standing still.

I definitely dig it but I kinda wished it was a RM chassis. And if I could be greedy, I like the Toyota Toms livery while I am at it.

Absolutely gorgeous.

That said I probably won't get one as I have no real place to drive it, what was the reason I sold my Street Devil. :(

Off topic: IMO pure Kafka that "society" has a problem with Rothmans, Camel, Marlboro and other tobacco companies on cars but sees no harm in Jägermeister, Diebels Alt, Martini and other alcoholic beverages on cars. Smoking in a car (forbidden here in Belgium if someone in the car is under 16) is a health risk for the passengers but drunk driving is a risk for the  passengers and all people using the same road. I don't get it. Besides a model should replicate the original IMO and not being corrected to the new standards of our "evolved" society.

Sorry. Old man's rant is over now, I'll be good and take a nap.

Holy cr@p!!!

Of course this, after I found an unfinished original kit within the last year, but I'm ok with that because I can run this one!

Edit to add - So it being a 47xxx, does that mean it's likely to come pre-painted?!? I would be 100% fine with that, lol

I saw somewhere that paints are required to finish the model. Was hoping for the more common high downforce version as in the pic. Was hoping they would have modeled the 962 instead-maybe someone now will make a 962 body for the Group C chassis?

I love the high downforce version of the 962 and would love to see someone make a version for the 270mm Group C chassis. Pictured are my 962’s in GT7.

Answering my own question from above in case it helps any of our UK-based members: I see that Jadlam, TTP and SC Models are now all taking pre-orders (all circa £160). :)

Modelsport and The Model Centre are also taking pre-orders both at very good prices and free delivery too

I'm actually a bit surprised that Tamiya didn't make the 956 their first body for the group C chassis.  I think the 956/962 was the most widely used privateer car during the Group C era.   It looks incredible and opens up so many livery options so better late than never!

I would have preferred if Tamiya had made the high downforce version of the 962 or 956, as the LeMans version only raced once a year. Hopefully Tamiya will make more cars like the Lancia LC2 and/or a high downforce 956 or 962!

Hmm the more I look at it the more I wish they had done a 962 instead. I was never a fan of the Batmobile either 😬

i think it will be not too hard to use plastic sheets to make the 962 side wings then get a higher wing mount for the center wing.

I'm glad that Tamiya didn't just release the original body and make it 1/10 but instead they put in more details like adding the headlight and taillight buckets.  Which is big plus for me.

Probably because Kyosho made 1/12 R/C Porsche 962C about 10 years ago, super detailed RC kit.  Check out the Kyosho version (discontinued) hopefully Tamiya will incl a driver figure as Kyosho did.spacer.png

I did that same thing almost 40 years ago with the original 1/12 956: extended the rear fins with lexan on the inside of the fins. In this case I would mount the wing to the side fins.

Some vendors state that it is a limited edition. Is this true? They said the same about the C11 and this kit is still around.

All Tamiya RC kits that start with the item number 47 are limited release.

The standard range ones tend to start 58
