tamiya 47508 1/10 Porsche 956 coming!

Recommended Posts

Today I received this email from Tamico

"Thank you for pre-ordering the Tamiya 47508 Porsche 956 Gr.C 2WD Kit.

Unfortunately, the delivery of this model by Tamiya Germany has been delayed due to a delay in the arrival of the cargo ship. We currently expect to receive and ship the pre-ordered models in mid-November."

I was so sad :(

Pretty much there with the roller, and I imagine the paint process to be lengthy and painful

Check out the last pic, to prepare yourself for the paint needed!

Brilliant idea with the motor sticker, might have to steal that

Little by little, getting there. I'll let the blue dry overnight and get to the white tomorrow:

MCI will sell a load of the decal sheets but how's the colour comparison?

Color looks good, and for the most part the scale seems like it will work fine. I was really just after the Rothmans stickers. The MCI stickers are of course a scaled up version of the 1/12 58042 Porsche 956, which is not an exact body reference for this Group C version. I'm sure with time, MCI will get their hands on the 47508 sheets and do their thing.

More info on the MCI stickers versus kit - The MCI blue looks great in person (5 coats PS-4, then backed in white).

The biggest discrepancy is the top logo is larger on the kit sheet than the MCI sheet, but I'm sure it's because the MCI is scaled from the 58042, and I think it looks great.

The side wing stickers are a little smaller, but I simply didn't apply the kit supplied white sticker w/ logo. I made sure I got enough paint inside and just used the MCI logos.

Well, I decided not to use the smoke in favor of a canopy, so you can take that out of the equation

Can you get a decent result with only the white and blue paint?

Almost certainly. But it is a big ol’ body so I’d have a couple of cans of the white. I needed 1.5 of silver on my C11

Great! The red and gold on the body are decals?

It's a Porsche for starters and they are always popular.

Not a re release as such because Tamiya did a RM chassis version donkeys years ago.

I don't like Porsche's but I like this one, and it's a Group C chassis which seems to be enjoying a resurgence in popularity. They are a really simple chassis which would explain the relatively low price. I have 4 group C's are they are quick and the bodies are probably the best Tamiya have produced. Just ignore the Daytona Thunder and Street Devil, their bodies aren't Tamiya, nice but not Tamiya.

What does ‘RM Version’ mean?

thanks

Yes, lots and lots of them! I'm about to post some finished pics when I finish loading them up.

Alright, here she is finally, after days of finish work! You'll also notice I put on a set of black wheels in the rear in the last pics, because I found a lot of Car #3 pics online that had black wheels. I'll likely keep them on, but I'm glad I went ahead and painted the kit set as instructed.

Please excuse my ignorance, but is there something stopping people outside the US from ordering on Amain and international shipping? They have shown stock for a week straight now, I am amazed more people aren't posting deliveries in here.

Nothing stopping us, but the weak pound to dollad, shipping, customs charges and handling fee’s almost double the price
