Tamico has just announced that they have received the first batch with more to come in about 3 weeks.

Yes! I received email confirmation this afternoon that my two kits have been shipped from Tamico.

I was hoping someone would make some 1/10 956L decals for other liveries like the Canon, Kenwood or Marlboro from the  1983 LeMans.

So this arrived today. Courtesy of my Daughter who is 10 months old. Not too sure how she managed to order this, let alone pay for it (She probably has more money than me!) but fair play to her. Unfortunately its off to Santa now to be delivered to me on Christmas Day!

For the record. “She” paid $210.58 including postage and VAT at checkout on Amain so £171 was the charge all in. No additional charges. It was ordered on the 6th and arrived 10 days later. Id have had no chance getting one from the UK as I was missed the original allocation. So to get one at circa UK retail was great

Its also factory sealed in cellophane. I dont think UK ones are?

I don't know whether to thank you or not, as this post has resulted in me ordering one from Amain :o

My last Tamico order has suffered from the incompetence of Parcelforce customs charge collection (I paid extra for it to be delivered today and it didn't show up) so I'm happy to pay Amain for the VAT.

Thank you!

Just to clarify that I have no complaints with Tamico (who actually shipped my package via DHL).

My complaint is solely with ParcelForce, who were handed my parcel by DHL. This isn't the first time that I have had problems with ParcelForce. Their system doesn't always recognise when customs charges are paid so the parcel sits in their depot forever, saying 'awaiting customs charges' until you contact them and complain.

By paying the VAT to Amain, hopefully the parcel will come straight to my door and not touch ParcelForce's hands.

It's because they aren't sealed at the factory, but by the importer/distributor, as has been mentioned several times in various threads, much to people's surprise. I personally love the fact that models in general aren't sealed up at the factory - and aren't sealed by importers to the UK. I like to be able to open them up in the shop to see inside. Also it's a needless waste of plastic. Everything's already sealed in bags inside the box anyway.

Back to topic - I'm tempted to get one of these if they remain available for a while, but I'm also hoping they release a few more cars on this chassis.

Have to agree

Imagine buying a vintage sealed kit and leaving it like that for years, one day when retired you decide "I'm going to build that super rare Tamiya now" as you peel off the wrapping and open the box all excited! You realise it's full of old newspapers 😱

To late for negative feedback now

I jest , there's no way I'd buy a sealed kit other than from a well known supplier or a very trusted friend

This is very much a tale of two halves.

On one side. Yippee!

On the other, unfortunately, it’ll be delivered whilst my wife is at home. There may be questions. IMG_7459.jpeg.316094b6f69b238472cec9b76e308ee5.jpeg

Arrived yesterday from TAMICO.

I am going to build car number 3 (obviously) and car number 1. No point in building car number 2 as it did not finish in Le Mans 1983 B).

The included decal sheet is a bit disappointing. The print quality is great including metallic gold. But the stickers for the radiator opening are missing a lot of details and are mostly just solid black. Even more annoying (to me at least) are the many missing sponsors. I do get the "Racing" instead of the tobacco brand,  but what about tires, fuel, fashion and most crucially the legendary WEC-Logo and Le Mans class sticker? Yes, it does not say "Le Mans Winner" on the box. But we all know on which year and configuration of the 956 this kit is based on. Let's see, what I can do about this. (Also the new MCI-Decal sheet is missing these sponsors).

Short answer: Probably licensing fees. The FIA and especially the ACO are extremely protective about their brands and Tamiya didn't fancy paying them a lot of money to get these stickers on a kit with a limited production run.
