I've magnified the image using AI software. As so often, this has caused distortions to some of the text, which might give the impression that the image is fake. Only the resolution is "fake"!

Holy cr@p!!!

Of course this, after I found an unfinished original kit within the last year, but I'm ok with that because I can run this one!

Edit to add - So it being a 47xxx, does that mean it's likely to come pre-painted?!? I would be 100% fine with that, lol

Will it be the original chassis, a RM-01 or something else? I’m sure we will know in the coming week.

My guess: it's going to be a sloppy BT-01 kit with unforeseen amounts of blue-bit hopup goodness. :D

Yes, I am just kidding of course - let's hope it's a bit better! A new group C one would be great.

The new 956 is 1/10 scale, so the RM-01 surely is out of question. Judging by the limited number of new parts listed (wheels, stickers, H-parts and body with headlamp/taillamp inserts) combined with the indication that it's a limited release, my guess is that it's on the Gr. C. Also, since the last re-release of the MB C11, the Gr.C chassis has gained renewed popularity in Japan, including painting and decorating the C11 body to resemble other Gr.C cars, including the 956/962. With this in mind, the release of the new 956 makes quite a bit of sense.

The body posts placement and wheels' size/depth certainly look like a Group C chassis. That is an incredible news. I have been wondering why we were not getting a re-release of the Mazda and Jaguar this time around (my guess is the license agreement have lapsed and are not worth renewing?) and I had totally given up any hope of getting a 100% new body for the Group C. Well!

The Porsche will have the wing completely supported by the body (I think...) which will give it the lightest motor pod of all Group C's, having no wing and pylon attached to the pod. Anyways, that is really awesome.

I'm thinking that it'll be on the TC-01, anything with upright shocks wouldn't fit a shell like this one.

Doubt it. Looks like foam tires on the admittedly AI-altered picture. Also group C is dirt cheap and fits, well, Group C cars ;)

In the pic its got the same wheels that come with the Mazda 787B group c kit so defintely looks like its on the Gr C chassis.

I can see that Modellbau Siedel has the Tamiya number (not deliverable yet of course) searchable and it throws up a few hits for the kit and the aforementioned spare parts. The body should be available separately with wing and front/rear light inserts (?).

Interesting that they tease the fact they'll do a Porsche in Rothman livery, could they 959 be on its way too!?

For sure. They could do it like some model companies do the particular symbol on WWII German military equipment where they split the decal in half so they are not technically printing/selling the bad symbol, but you have both halves on the decal sheet so when you combine them on the model you get the complete emblem. Tamiya could easily have "racing" in their promo pics for legal reasons, and then include "ROTH" and "MANS" on the sheet in two halves.

Oddly enough I find it strange when people do want to blazon cigarette companies on thier vehicles.

Perhaps it just reminds me of the toy grade Taiyos, I think there is sweet innocence in these cars having censored cigarette companies.

I'm really excited about this - way more so than I should be, since I've never owned a Group C car or any other prototype / pan car / f1 chassis.  I've been holding off on buying a C11 for quite some time, we keep talking about setting up an endurance race but lack of available bodies and no guarantees of more chassis could have made it a short-lived series.  I'd be happy for Tamiya to release more models on the Group C chassis, but this is a great start.  Still not sure I'll buy, though - depends on what happens with this endurance series.

I think it's about making the model accurate to the original livery.  A model with "Racing" written down the side wouldn't look good on the shelf beside a genuine photo of the real car with Rothmans written down the side.

Personally it doesn't bother me, as I'd do a custom livery anyway.

Oooh! Those wheels look identical to the Mazda 787b Group-C. I could do with a spare set of those.

Includes the Sport Tune!  No ESC though..    I see the C11 came with it as well, so nothing new

  • 1/10 scale R/C model assembly kit. Length: 483mm, width: 207mm, height: 108mm. Wheelbase: 270mm.
  • The distinctive long-tail body, front and rear light cases, and wing are separately molded in polycarbonate.
  • Features black ABS plastic side mirrors and wing stays.
  • Based around an ABS plastic bathtub, with space frames front and rear and FRP plates, the chassis is a composite design that offers a rigid base to back up the fluid suspension: the result is a crisp, responsive driving experience.
  • The model is powered by a Sport-Tuned motor and uses a direct drive setup with spur and pinion gear mated to a ball pressure plate differential for smooth cornering performance.
  • Dish (front) and 5-spoke (rear) wheels are paired with high-grip sponge tires. (Wheels require painting.)
  • Includes 540 Sport Tuned brushed motor.
  • Required to complete: 2-channel radio, servo, ESC, 7.2volt battery with compatible charger, and Tamiya PS paints.
