First Tamiya build, Blackfoot

This is my First go at building a Tamiya kit. It was a blast to build, but man did I make a mess of the dining table lol. Re release Blackfoot with fast eddy sealed bearings, savox budget metal gear servo, kimbrogh medium servo saver, fly sky gt3c radio, 3000mah nimh, MIP ball diff and a tamiya dirt tuned motor. I won't be able to afford to build a lot of kits, so I got one that I really wanted and splurged on a few things that I wanted on it. I love the 80-86 Ford f series.

Will be a few weeks before I can afford the paint sadly. Had to drop $130 on a starter for my car unexpectedly. ouch.

Love it! Thanks for sharing, and the build is looking great. You have great taste in upgrades as well haha. Also how about the price of paint these days!? its crazy how expensive it has gotten In my opinion. I remember when testors was only a few bucks per can. Now its like 9 dollars. Its become cheaper for me to swing down to my local auto body paint shop and they will give me a small touch up container of paint for $15. Its the same price as the expensive rattle cans and much better quality.

As it’s going to be a runner, it may be worth considering just polishing the body instead of painting? I did with mine and it buffs up pretty good,

Nothing more heartbreaking than gravel rash on its first rollover, especially Black. Just a thought.

Ended up not painting it. Boy it was a lot of work cutting out the decals. For a first try it turned out alright.

My Dad  and I want to build and race around some Tamiya touring cars so saving towards that instead of towards paints.

Edit: What a blast! Ran two batteries thought it this morning. I think the motor is just about right for were i have to run it.

I've ran several batteries though it.  I love it. Glad I went with it for my first tamiya kit. Only complaint is that the tires are pretty hard. I may  pick up another set of wheels and try out some other 2.2 tires later on. these do look nearly nice though.

I bought the paints to do the grille and window trim when I was ordering stuff for my clod buster build. It turned out alright. Good practice. I bought a dynamite 2400 mah battery for it a while back so I can have two packs for it. For some reason it's faster with that battery than the tenergy 3000 mah.

Sadly the rear shocks both leak. At first it was the passenger side, then both. I took them apart new o-rings and some o-ring grease and refilled them. they still leak. The fronts do not. I'll pick up some thicker grease for the o-rings and try again.

Replace the O-Rings with Associated X-Rings (ASC91493) and lube with some Associated green slime.  This helps prevent leaking.
