Regular steering trouble 2015 Monster Beetle

Recommended Posts

The steering on my 2015 Tamiya Monster Beetle keeps coming loose every 15 minutes when driving, even on smooth surfaces.  The steering saver also occasionally disconnects, especially on rough terrain, and it's difficult to fix while out driving.

I'm looking for a more durable and reliable steering system upgrade for my Monster Beetle. Are there any heavy-duty steering overhaul kits available? Anything else I can do?

Thanks

Sounds like you haven't been using the correct size of screw to attach the servo saver. Try the right kind of screw that will actually hold securely, and if the servo gear has stripped, you'll need a new servo. A metal gear servo will be more durable.

The screw that came with my metal gear servo doesn't seem to be tightening properly. Both the screw and the servo's top stud (where the screw attaches) are metal. I'm concerned because there's very little resistance when I screw it in, and it feels like it could easily come loose.

hello

the screws that come with servo are normally only for plastic servo horn with out servo saver, properly need much longer one, also the first monster beetle had clamp on bracket to stop servo saver coming off.

You need a longer screw, dude, also upgrade that stock plastic servo with an aluminium one. You can pick them up dirt cheap on the evilbay.

M3 screws of a suitable length + thread lock. My newly built FF-03 only lasted for 5 minutes because I forgot to thread lock the screw.

Wow! 25kg-cm is a way overkill servo for a monster beetle, but it's really nice to have all that torque.

Centre the servo with equal length rods and use standoffs on the hubs to reduce bump steer then mount the connectors under the saver.

Will try thread lock. Any chance you have a link for an aluminium servo horn that fits? I found lots but not sure which one is suitable.

Sorry, what are standoffs? Where can I get those?

Thanks for your patience everyone. I am new to this.
