Boom! There she is! (Song Boom by P.O.D - video lags but the song rules. This is the build theme song. Just look at the image and listen to the song: I never knew that a « KIT » like me….).

Begin the community Gazoo build.

I have the bearings and shims. Where to go from there? You decide.

Community build. Up to you all. ;) Discuss and contemplate each phase. BTW, I’d like to make this a functional build, and not an all out ‘BLING’ build.

Ok. So I’ve been window shopping and, yeah, probably will add hop ups. There’s some really cool stuff out there and rally cars ARE high performance, tricked out vehicles, right? :)

I definitely recommend to buy:

- Oil shocks + TRF pistons

- Aluminium steering

- Aluminium rear uprights

- Metal suspensions balls

- Wheel Hexes with screws

- Ball bearings

- Aluminium motor mount

- Machine screws

List is much, much longer.

Unfortunately, at this point it will be more expensive than XV-01, which is much better and has all mentioned upgrades ( or equivalents) straight from the box.

TT-02 is great chassis, but if you want to upgrade it, you will do this only for fun, because it does not make sense from economical point of view.

It has been generally agreed that the limit is set at ~£250 for 2024.

Maybe I put that out there wrong. I was trying to say that since real rally cars are high performance machines, my little plastic machine should reflect that, best I can. :D

How much do you want to spend on Hop Ups?

Looking at all of that right now. I see there’s a complete kit by Yeah Racing, but don’t think I need all of that. Maybe I’ll start with the obvious bits and slowly dig deeper as I learn the car. Then I can see the benefits of what I do and it’s more fun that way!

If anything that YR kit is more detrimental to performance than anything else. If I were to make a TT02 into a rally car, I'd grab the following:

1. Metal dogbones/cups for the back, universals up front. Combine this with the taller CVA eyelets and some trimming and you'll gain more ground clearance.

2. Chassis cover, waterproof servo/esc (the Hobbywing 1060 is waterproof).

3. Basic CVA shocks with single hole pistons.

4. Spare o rings or foam donuts to protect the bodyshell.

5. Low friction metal suspension balls, the stock ones will gradually wear out in dirt.

6. Leave the driveshaft and steering stock, a decent servo and a glued kit servo saver will give you acceptable steering. The stock driveshaft can take some serious power before warping.

7. If you want more speed, buy a pinion gear set and a slider motor mount.

There are in fact two YR kits. CK-TT02 and TATT-S07. Getting both will gey you 8 dampers though.

I'd go with 54753 for shocks, that way you get four in a package for the same price instead of two.

These actually come with very soft springs which you will need for rallying. 

I would use 3 hole pistons and 300 oil though, but let's not make it complex and costly just yet. They'll work great with the supplied oil.

Still under 100€. I think it’s a good start!

I picked up these off amazon. I thought the red would fit better with the shell.

Hmm, they are probably heavier, more expensive and do not provide any advantage over standard plastic parts. They also will wear faster. I am not sure if it was good choice.

Have you bought Ball Bearings?
