Well it’s been a long time since I did a build. Hopefully the moderators will remember me and allow me to continue 🤔

I’m not a fan of squash the vegetable in any from  but Oranges, that’s a different matter. It is by far the best fruit, flavour, juice and colour in the world ,IMOHO, and when teamed up with a bit of Tamiya blue well what is there not to like.
I’m not quite sure what direction this build is going to go but the body will be Metallic Orange, it will have oil filled shocks along with carbon fibre shock towers, and it will be brushless/lipo powered. I have a box full of wheels and tyres so many combinations may be tried. I will probably build it with 4 wheel steer just for the badword of it but other than that let the Jaffa juices flow!!!!!………

edit: steel pinions of course 😃

Subscribed. Looking forward to this one. I also like orange.

I didn't realise you could get carbon damper stays for the GF-02.

Neither did I . Was just doing some googling, as you do, and there they were. Same company as the shocks, Chinese of course!! I’ll find out what there’re like once I get going!!

Good choice, I reckon that’ll look right tasty in Metallic Orange 😉

Enjoy the build.

Definitely in for the "tastiness"! So intrigued by the Squash Van, and yours is the first modified build I've seen!

Right here we go!!! First question is where on earth is the Jaffa van going??? IMG_1159.jpeg
IMG_1160.jpeg

IMG_1172.jpeg
IMG_1173.jpeg
IMG_1174.jpeg I should also pint out there are a tank, a 1/6 scale Jeep and a proboat jet boat on top of another wardrobe. Hey ho you can never have too many rc cars😎

So on with the build. I normally follow Tamiya manuals pretty closely but as I’m waiting for some diff putty I thought I’d start with the body.   IMG_1175.jpeg
IMG_1179.jpeg Uncut and then a hole in one( actually not too difficult as arches were pre cut.) then on to masking. Very simple paint job METTALIC ORANGE.
Now here’s my first gripe, window masks that heed cutting out!!!! Come on Tamiya

IMG_1184.jpeg

colour pictures to follow but this is how I got temperature and moisture better IMG_1189.jpeg
IMG_1190.jpeg

then there’s wheels and tyres??? Currently 4 choices + the stock ones. Jury is out at the moment IMG_1180.jpeg
IMG_1181.jpeg
IMG_1182.jpeg
IMG_1183.jpeg. That’s it for now, just waiting for Hongkong Post to deliver.

Great collection there, making me feel Tamiya poor with 13 😂

I like the 2nd set of wheels the most, but it’s your build 👍

First wheels, but might work with the second ones too.

Where to put the Jaffa Van? Elton John has to move on and that's that. :D

Peronally I would put the transmitters somewhere you can't see them and put the Jaffa Van on the shelf instead

Absolutely thrue :D

Very nice and divers collection you have. And you have a trailer! I want to make one of those myself one day.

If I may ask what chassis is under the UPS Pumpkin?

I like the super swampers (last ones) especially if they would be inside the body when finished, otherwise I think the monster tires (second ones) would be my first choice.

The UPS ( secret drugs mule) is on a 1/16 Slash chassis. An absolute riot though a little more top heavy than the stock body, hence the gravel rash on the wings!!

So far it seems the Pumpkin/Lunchbox wheels are in the lead. The wheels will I think be partially out side the body as they are on the stock one.

That’s were all the 1/12 static models, spares boxes and Wheel box are.  And before you say it I’ve got 2 M chassis’s, 15-20 painted body shells, a 1 metre Dark Biter MTB , 2 other rc boats and a partially built rc yacht. My name is Busdriver and I have a problem. Only 11 steps to go. ( no offence to anyone going through this extremely difficult progress for real)

@Busdriver leave the transmitters where they are. Turn some of the cars 90 degrees to place them on the shelves similar to those on the shelf above the door. As most cars are longer than they are wide this should create space for at least one more :D

Nice try but I’d have to rebuild the shelves for exactly the reason to state. True the ones over the doors are wide enough but the others aren’t . I should have mentioned the boats and bodies are in the loft!! Fear not I will find space. I have 4 more wall hangers so will play around until the fit🤞🏻

Now back to the build, we’ll the body anyway. My diff putty seems to be in suspended animation in the middle of the Pacific Ocean so I don’t want to start the chassis. So I said Orange and I think I have been true to my word. IMG_1195.jpeg
IMG_1196.jpeg
IMG_1197.jpeg
IMG_1198.jpeg I think it needs something on the panel sides but I’m not sure what?? I think it would have been better with chrome trim on the side windows hey. Won’t get a real feeing for it until it’s properly up on whichever wheels I go for??

It's a 50's looking van.... it needs more chrome! Side moldings, rocker panels, etc...

Just one man's opinion. 😉
