It's a 50's looking van.... it needs more chrome! Side moldings, rocker panels, etc...

Just one man's opinion. 😉

This world would be a sad place if we all had the same opinion 😃 I agree it needs something else it’s just how to achieve. The rest of the stock stickers don’t really work for me. Let me think. My diff putty has just arrived so I will do a little chassis building whilst I ponder??

Should I do the bumpers with the kit stickers instead of black ? Also the running boards?

Try the chrome rims again, now that it is painted (hot orange, indeed!) and see if that works with the rest of the van?

That’s the kind of thing. I’m not sure if it’s the doors or the side panels that need something. I’m doing the chassis since I’ve finished that I’ll give it some thought!!

Now on with the build. This is a little photo heavy with few words as mostly self explanatory. The build is up to Tamiya standards and I would think suitable for a novice. If you’ve built any of the GF chassis’s you’ll find it very familiar. The shocks are from RCJazz which seem to fit well though the springs are quite heavy. I did not use the carbon shock towers as it meant using longer screws to attach them and I’m not sure they will make a hill of beans difference!! So here we go.

Love it. You’re not far wrong just more of them. I have to say they work flawlessly and because of the width of the gears they are pretty bomb proof!!

Thank you for documenting your build! Did you just use diff putty in one diff or both?

I used it in both, but in different quantities. The front had much less that the rear. Neither is locked just enough to give a limited slip. You will notice in the picture one of the diffs has a silver mark on it, that’s how I remember which one is which!!!

Yes I like them as well but they are just too small for the chassis. The brick like nature of the chassis lends itself more to Monster truck style rather than road going IMOHO. Will first run it with the Chrome Pumpkin wheels which are smaller in diameter than the stock one and see how it goes. Then I may start playing around. I’m pretty certain the springs are way too stiff!!!

Still thinking about logos and signs but I think I’ve cracked the Wheel/tyre combo 😍 IMG_1305.jpeg

I have run it with the lunchbox/pumpkin tyres and it goes well. Plenty quick enough on 2s, don’t think it’ll need 3s. It does need softer springs so I will be looking through what I’ve got. Having said that these wheels should help a little as they are quite soft

So I think I can now wrap this build up, for now, with some conclusions. The kit is a good simple build. The friction dampers are worse than useless, though I ended up using the kit springs on the oil dampers as they were softer. I put. 13.5t brushless motor in it which will run 2/3s lipos. It doesn’t need 3s!!!! In fact a torque tuned and 2s might be its sweet spot. The carbon shock towers were I think a waste of money. I might fettle them a bit but because the are just bolt on plates all the mounting points are very thick and bind up the suspension. May revisit in the future. The Wheels and tyres and Injora and I think are the dogs dangly bits😃. The body was always going to be Orange, just because, but it ended up as a lot of it. The pinstripes and silver bumpers broke it up a bit but it was missing something . Then I found something on my workbench and bingo. I mentioned at the beginning of the build about bearings and the number this and other similar ones need. Well I bought mine from Colin Long of RCBearings and with the bearings was a little promo sticker. We’ll blow me down the colours were perfect but I wanted to put them on the panels and it was too small. So they say if you don’t ask you don’t get I reached out to Colin and cheekily asked him if he had any bigger ones?? He replied almost immediately saying he would be delighted to have the van “sign written “ with his stickers and yes he had some bigger ones that he would send me. He also sent me a PDF of the logo and said I could use that as well!!! Then to top it all he said he would send me another complete set of GF02 bearings to use/give away or whatever I chose. Well I couldn’t say no could I so Ladies and gentleman I present to you the RCBearings delivery van

i thought if TC was going to run any future competition I would offer the bearing set to be bundled up with any prize 🎁

To Admin: I hope I have not infringed any club rules with the above. I have seen many sponsors logos on cars so am hoping this is ok?

Looks really good, how stable is it in the corners?

Do you have a link to those wheels and tyres?
