Stu.B here,

I will be coming down with Stulec. This sounds like a great idea. I will bring my home-made 12 cell clod along with my stock clod. A pulling contest sounds good but my truck is more designed for blitzing hills. Are there any steep banks? I will bring whatever I can. It's a long way from Glasgow but sounds like a good day out!

OH! BTW....

Ive now got 3 more runners than I had last week [:)]

I will now be taking my Cosmo, Frog and Lunchbox to Clumber Park, I have also repainted the body on my Ford Ranger and Ive also completed restoring my Icarus, Shame I cant share all the lovely pictures Ive taken of these cars [:(] what with Tamiyaclub going through a crisis at the moment and all.

I plan to fit radios to at least 2 more of my cars before the do, (Icarus & Scorpion) and I may do some cosmetic modifications to my Rough Rider, Blazing Blazer and Mugen Bulldog in time for event.

one minor thought has crossed my mind.... with so many ppl in such a close proximity using their own cars and More impotatly RADIOS!! what will be the situation regarding the use of the various Frequency crystals??? I have all 6 of the basic 27Mhz AM sets + a few splits + some 75Mhz Radios and one AM set (with spare crystals) is someone going to sort out some for of rota as to who uses what and when or will it all depend on who has cars ready with Fully charged batteries at the time who gets to go first.....

just a thought [|)]

cheers for the directions "blondiniboy", i,m coming up from cheltenham - south west - and i reckon it should take about 2 hours (ish..). i was up around the lakes during the summer and and that drive home took me 3 hours - but i was giving my old van some stick on the motorway,he!,he!. i thought that was pretty good going. dunno whether to come up saturday and sleep in the van, or set off well early sunday morning....not too good at getting up in the mornings though...

keep an eye open for a white astra van with a tamiya sticker in the back window. (theres a picture of it in my showroom).[;)]

see ya[:D]

Good point about the xtals, maybe a peg board will help, just to make sure no treasure's get recked.

How many people are thinking about going down the night before? Could all meet up in a pub nearby[:P] Maybe have a bit of late night racing aswell.[:D]

I do like the pub the night before idea, but think that I will be driving down through the night with Stu.B

Also I don't think a peg board is needed, just ask !!!!

if you could all bring a couple of sets of crystals then we can sort out some runs.

An idea could be to bring a note with you, with : the cars you would like to run, and the frequencies you have, that way we can sort out a bunch of cars that can be used at the same time, doesn't need to be a race, although I can see it might get that way, but I would love to see half a dozen old racing buggies out going round together again!!!

See ya all there!!

uh, yeh could be!!. i cant remember who i bought that off, but it did come from Ebay. i had to cut the "tamiya" bit off otherwise it would of taken up the best part of the window,he!,he!.

good memory mate![:D].

see you on the 24th then! - dont forget to keep an eye open for me, i,ll probably get lost and end up in a pub[:P].

Too bad I can't come, I live on the other side of the river... [v]

Frankly, I never saw an SS for real! [:I] I wish I'd only see one... [:(] Same goes for most cars I really want bad (Porsche 959, RR, WW1 etc.) I feel pretty gutted about all that, it a bit embarrasing. [xx(] Now everyone thinks I'm 'just following the crowd' in the SS thing. [B)] (which is not true at all in my opinion)

“Too bad I can't come, I live on the other side of the river.â€

Same situation for some of us. But the question is not “Why can’t I take part?â€. The question should be “What must be done to take part?â€

Me and my friends travelled a lot to compete in motorcycle races in Germany and our neighbour countries. A few of us found the way to Africa and Saudi Arabia for Rallye competitions. So this is a question of organisation.

I’ve been in the UK only a couple of times by plane. So my questions is: What are the costs in money and time to pass the channel by car.

hi - like i said earlier everyone is welcome to come - but to be honest this started of as a small get together and grew. I think this being the first one will be a bit 'experimental' so you are probably better off coming to a later one once we have ironed out all the problems that there are bound to be.

Maybe if it works well, we could have the next one near the south cost, for ferry travellers or even close to major national airport.

I think this first one will be a bit rough and ready.

If it all goes well.......it would be mint to have a meeting on a beach.

Wales, black rock sands, 3 miles of sand!

cars allowed on aswell.

real cars.

we could have our own baja 500 and mint 400 for the scorchers and rough riders!

Blackrock Sands Eh?

I know that place, My family allways went on holiday to north wales when I was a kid and funnily enough my earliest experience of a Tamiya car was at the Sands back in about 1983 when a kid i met there let me have a go with his sand rover.....

anyway back to business.

I know everyone will be taking Tamiya cars, but who else will be taking along "Other" car brands? Im taking a Raft of My Kyoshos (Scorpion,Pegasus,Icarus,Cosmo,Rocky,Optima Pro,Outrage) not to mention 2 Marui's (Hunter,Samurai) and some other Rare bits, (Futaba FX-10,Mugan Bulldog and Mardave Meteor)

anyone else daring to be different, perhaps we can start a Kyoshoclub [8D]

I'll be bringing 4 of my Tamiya's plus my Schhumacher XTreme so I've got something to use when the batteries are charging and my Cat XLS if I can finish it in time as I promised Stulec52 a go[:0]

I was just thinking about how the number people going and the number of cars being brought along. Just rambling on here but was thinking:

If:

50 people go.

10 people in a race for a total of 5 minutes. (cant really manage more cars on a track can you?

10 minutes inbetween heats (roughly)

That means 10 people take 15 min.

50 People take Aproximately 75 minutes to all have 1 go.

Want 5 runs each means 375 minutes (around 6 hours)

This would mean no messing about with all heats running on time.

Add to this that people will run different cars each race if they bring them which means cars can't be matched for races easily. (Put a modded Avante up against a fighter buggy for example)

All adds up to chaos. What if 100 people go AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!![xx(]

Ok i know its a fun day and it will probably work itself out on the day and everybody will just drive their cars around the the park and enjoy themselves. Just bitter as i wont be able to go [:)] Thought of this while just reading over the last posts when chris basically said it seems to be getting popular day out.

It makes you think.

On a serious note though, What if everybody brings the same colour crystal!!!!!!!!! That does need sorting out. (sorry if i missed that post anybody)

To be honest I'd be surprised if a dozen people turn up to this first one (and then only if the weather is nice).

Stulec has been put in charge of marshalling and sorting out some sort of races etc, but basically I think the whole thing is just going to be done as fun. Racing mis-matched cars won't really be an issue (if it is an issue for anyone - perhaps you should think about giving it a miss)

Everyone should bring as many crystals as you can lay your hands on

Posted

Chris is right, it should be all about FUN FUN and more FUN[:D]. I'll be happy just to put some faces to names and if I don't get to use my cars as much as I can, then I'll just use my camcorder.[:P]

I imagine everyone will be turning up at different times, especially those from north of the border. This means having heats is maybe not such a great idea. How about time slots? By this i mean a chart or sheet with all possible frequencies running from top to bottom and time slots running from left to right. All we would have to do is write our names in a time slot and that period of time would be reserved for us to run our own car safely without interference. The main thing to sort out is frequency clashing. If that is sorted out by some kind of rota then people can sort out amongst themselves races or competitions involving similar cars. What do you think?

Oooh i hope to be taking my TXT-1, EK4 S2, F1 201, wild willy 1& 2,as runners if they are ready in time. Less than a month to go [:D]

I suspect were all going to be spending time looking at each others cars, chatting and getting to know ppl.

and i should think well be trying to arrange car type together if poss, i would like to use my txt-1 with others and have a willy race[:0][:D], i think with all the variations we'll be watching & filming parades[8D] & races [:P]and chatting[:)] & Trading? who knows, i do know a great time will be had by all.[:D]

Disclaimer

Unless you break all your cars:(

Just hope enough ppl bring 3speeds as i would like to watch that,

Michael

i think everyone should have a name plate on their car, like a piece of paper with their username on it.

then everyone knows who's who.

when i say car, i mean the REAL car.

or their coat.
