donfilippo 637 Posted November 4 Hi folks, what do you use to sit your cars onto, if they are on the shelf? I want to step away from my current solution of using random boxes and pieces of wood... Had a look around but it seemed all quite expensive.
chris.alex 1340 Posted November 4 In addition to random boxes and pieces of wood I am using pieces of foam, old wheels and tyres. Nothing pre-made or professional in any way. 🙂

Mad Ax 10577 Posted November 5 Most of my cars are on shelf brackets supported by twin-slot wall rails. They're not cheap to start off, but once you compare to RC-specific wall-mount solutions then the price-per-car is not so bad at all. Otherwise, I mostly upcycle other thing because RC-specific stands are just so darned expensive. There's no price on that koswork stand, although it looks absolutely gorgeous - I'd love a couple of those in my workshop - my guess is they (like the Turtle Labs stands) are designed for the RC 'fluencers who really need that snappy, coordinated car display to sell their entertainment channels. For clod-scale monster trucks, I use ice cream tubs. I stick a label with the truck name on it and throw the spares in there For touring cars and other things with flat-ish chassis - spreadable cheese tubs. Perfect size to keep the wheels off the ground Mid-size monsters and crawlers - larger dairy spread tubs can be used, although mostly I use my wall mounts for these Rememeber - you can paint tubs so they aren't ugly. I use satin black peelable paint, it sticks to everything, has good coverage, and the spreadable cheese pots no longer look like spreadable cheese pots but actually look pretty much like expensive RC car stands. For my big rigs, I 3D-printed some rear axle stands that cup the diff housings (also fits TLT axles) but didn't get around to making a recess so they also fit the front beam axle. That said, my big rigs are quite happy sitting directly on the shelf since the tyres are fairly solid.
ADRay1000 523 Posted November 5 my Tamiyas live in the garage, previous home owner lined the walls with peg board. I use 2 6 - 8” long hooks to hang them up. And a couple of smaller ones to mount the radios underneath.
lupogtiboy 516 Posted November 5 I used to stand mine on these take away style boxes, you can buy them cheap and they have a bit of spares storage as well!
donfilippo 637 Posted November 6 I came to the conclusion that I like the idea of buying a stash of cheap storage containers of the right size and then painting them black or silver best. The stands available are just to expensive. With the money saved, I am gonna buy some useless hop-ups!
CoolHands 949 Posted November 6 You can get these laser level stands fairly cheap around £3.40 with tax Aliexpress 90 laser level also some people have used guitar foot stands which can be quite cheap around £4.50 and suitable often called ‘guitar foot stool’! OnTheTrail 1239 Posted November 7 If you know anyone that does a lot of target shooting or trap shooting, many times they reload their own ammo to save money. The little trays the primers come in can be used to make great RC display stands. They're free, rather thin so you can stack them to make stands only as high as needed to get the wheels off the ground. All I do is glue them together or sometimes screw them together, paint them flat black and glue a layer of some thin non-slip shelf liner or the such. I probably have close to twenty around here for pretty much the cost of some cheap glue and a can of spray paint. I also cut up some cheap felt pads I had laying around to keep the stands from scuffing up the shelves as I slide them around to dust......(if I ever find the time to do that )
cstorckiii 432 Posted November 7 1"x6" Styrofoam disks for the M, Touring, and Rally cars on a shelf unit in the hall. Radshape RC wall brackets for the buggies, which are surprisingly inexpensive from JK-RC.
markbt73 5849 Posted November 9 Old cream cheese/sour cream containers, worn-out tires/wheels, foam blocks, whatever it takes to keep the tires from flat-spotting. I'm not much for "displays."

magnumb 146 Posted November 13 One of the cheapest options i had was to use 3"x3" empty bean bags i purchased off flea bay and filled them with rice and then hot glue the seam
alvinlwh 7227 Posted November 13 When I ran out of shelf space, I hang them on the wall above doors with wall hangers.
CoolHands 949 Posted November 13 I bought a few of the metal ‘stands’ (I linked to above) to try. They ok and adjustable so can be used for different models / chassis heights as shown. To make them nicer it would be beneficial to glue some rubber to both sides to make it less ‘scratchy’ to use (but maybe I’m being a bit precious)

They seem to work well, although I might use some sticky pads so that I don't knock them out of place. Previously I could only get 2 cars (the Grasshopper & Lunchbox) on this shelf, as the shelf isn't deep enough for them to face the front without rolling off. The stands have allowed me to fit a 3rd model to the same shelf.
