Just incase you missed my last post - the day was just great, with a good time had by all. Started at 9am and went on until after dark.

You can see all the photos I took at

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/winterdrive/index.htm

here just one of them...

dsc00020.jpg

There were lots more with camera there so I expect more pictures will be posted later.

Highlight for me was the Monster Truck mayhem, with one guy running his Bruiser against 5 TXT1 type trucks.

more later

What can I say, I am envying you, wish I could come, the pics look like from old Tamiya Radio Control Guilde Books! [8D]

Looks you had heaps of fun, nice to see that even shelf queens were driven, this IMHO is what this hobby really is about, hope more meetings will follow!!!

Great work guys!!!! [:)][8D]

Unfortunately my camera batteries ran out before the 'racing' started but I am sure there will be more pics/vids later.

When you see SS running through windscreen deep muddy water - its just fantastic!

Work has already begun on the next event...March time, and a little further south

will the video be downloadable like through media player? Can't wait to see the action. The race photos should be interesting! Did you set up a track or was it just drive around and mess about? Did that guy turn up with the old stock that were talking about chris (i think it was you that said something about the dealer that bough the beaties ex stock) Any plans on the next day out and a general location? Hope you all had a good day.

so, by my counting 19 or 20 members, + a couple of soon to be members !! and over 100 cars on display !!

what was most impressive about these numbers to me was that the vast majority of the cars were brought to run !!! and most were !!

Some fantastic models, a credit to all the owners, I was particulary impressed by the range of models, seemed there were allsorts, although by far the most popular was the Sand Scorcher....

Was great to meet all the guys who were there, some I had dealt with before, and some I will in the future.

Shame I can't be at the next UK event... I guess I will have to start a North American one...

Hi what a fab day and great place to meet. It was nice to put faces to names and do a little bit of buying.

I wish i would have had more time to get some cars together to run on the day but i had just done a 14 hour shift and drove straight down cos i didnt wanna miss it.

The BMW Z3 i did bring which was new took a beeting when a bright green Avante decided to use the bonet as a ramp but its all in good fun.

well cheers everyone cant wait for th next one !!!!!!

Well what can i say it was a great day i didn't get to race as i had to leave early but thanks to all there that was selling & Trading it was a great day

Thanks to chris for bringing parts and cars as i bought a boomerang and wild dagger and a few spares from him

Well i had to help him out as he said he wasn't aloud to take it back home and the other members help as well just as chris was packing away another member would be unloading and start looking through the many spares chris had brought

i don't think i'll be able to make the next one as i'm hoping to be moving house next year but i'll try & maybe for the 3rd one a bit more North?

Here is the first movie record of the event. - Thanks Jimbo for the movie.

http://www.netsmith.co.uk/tamiyaclub/2WDRaceLowRes.wmv (1.1mb)

or

http://www.netsmith.co.uk/tamiyaclub/2WDRaceHighRes.wmv (3.5mb)

Hopefully both should just stream down using media player so file size shouldn't be an issues

They both show one of the Vintage 2WD races. As you will see the driving on display was of the highest quality, something to bear in mind if you fancy participating in the next meetings races[;)]

Gentlemen - I use that term cautiously.

That is some truly wonderful video footage! James Smith that is some good stuff! Who was driving that blue/white SS??? Taking out that cone was a treat but the best part was when it got temporarily stuck in the little mud pond and that red/white SS came over and looked like it just peeled out to spray mud/water on his little blue/white buddy!!! Claaaasssssiccc! [:D]

Guys, wish I could have been there but I'm in Chicago. Maybe next time. And again, thanks for the video footage.

Hey all !

Firstly a big sorry to purplebugsy , I bet the damage was terrible , My avante went up about 2 feet ! Its not that easy piloting the avante against oncoming traffic .

A really big thank you to everybody who organised the event , it was a great day and so good to meet everybody , its amazing to see so many people who I have bought bits from (and bid against !).

Funniest moment : when bruiser man (sorry , didnt ask your name) drove his sand scorcher through the mother of all puddles deliberately ! and got it stuck .

Most painfull moment : when I hit the Z3 so so hard , (avante had no damage at all which was an absolute miracle)

Most painfull moment 2 : when I smashed into chris's ankle at full pelt , that must have hurt .

Other peoples toys I wanted to take home : So many but probabbly mooseys egress or chris's terra crusher(must get one) .

Cant wait till the next one .

And finally : thanks for sorting out the racing Stu and all the best in canada .

I would just like to say first of all that the meeting was awsome! I was slightly aprehensive about hiring a car and traveling all that way down from Scotland for an unoffical meet by the side of the road! All doubts were blown away once the first couple of cars arrived and everyone proved to be very interesting and genuinely friendly. It was great to see all of those old cars and put faces to the nicknames! Thanks to all who provided the merchandise I came away with, volksrod, chris, ditchus, anyone else?!! The movies are great! I would only like to ask (beg??!please!!!) for the monster mayhem to be hi-res!! PLEASE!!

Hi

What a wonderful day. Big Thanks to Chris and everyone else that helped organise this event plus everyone else that was able to attend.

I enjoyed meeting all the fellow collectors especially the ones I have got to know over the last few years.

Also enjoyed seeing so many vintage cars, runners and shelf queens, Oh yes and the NIB Sand Scorcher.

It was really nice to see racing action from all the vintage cars sand scorchers, bruisers, avantes, Etc

Thanks to everyone for a great day of Trading and Racing.

Well worth the trip from London

Can’t wait for the next one

Thanks

[:(!][:(][B)]My computer has something against me everytime i try to view movies it keeps giving me an error message on ablue screen and press any key... somehow its not the same as watching the footage. I missed some races trying to fix txt wheel slippage problems, and heard about a novel ramp for an avante that is a must see.

Suppose better reinstall everything.

Wow ,absoloutly awesome[:P], those vids are the next best thing to being there, and a new event was invented aswell, The cone push.[;)]

Looked like it ended up perfect racing conditions,[:D] well for the SS's [;)], couldn't of been any better.[8D]

Thanks to all that attended and to those who took pics and vids, i have thoroughly enjoyed watching them all. and no doubt will again and again.

Roll on March....

As a shameless attempt to raise funds for the club I've decided to do a short run on 'Rare & Collectable' (in ebay speak) comemorative T-Shirts.

If I can get orders for 24 I can sell these at £14.99 each plus postage. Theses are professionally silk screen printed on quality heavy cotton grey tshirts. They are not produced by iron transfers of any type so will last ages (depending on what you do in them of course [;)])

Priority will be given to those people that attended, but if you didn't go but would like to have one to keep as an investiment MIB for thier future value [;)], the remainder will be sold on a first come first served basis.

If you want one email me how many you want and what sizes. Please put 'T-Shirt' as the subject of your mail. DO NOT SEND ANY MAIL YET!

If/When they are produced I will contact you.
