The boomerang was prone to cracks in its rear arms, front arms and maybe even gearbox I think. It’s a good idea checking them for any cracks or even straight up buy replacements even if they aren’t cracked, as they probably will crack after a bit of running. If you plan to run it regularly it would be wise upgrading to aluminum arms. 
They usually crack around the screws. 

Check the front knuckles as well, not sure if they crack as easily but I have a bigwig, (Which shares a lot of parts with the boomerang.) and my front knuckles need replacing.  

Shouldn't be that hard to replace those parts as they have been used on many kits and have been re released.

Depends on what level you want to 'restore' them?

Just to get runners, with parts you've got laying about, even a 2wd bommer, then maybe. If you're looking for a concourse/shelfer, then you'll be cheaper just buying a new rere.
