I have both. The CPE ones are from RC4WD. My ones sit on the shelf as they don’t fit my Clod, they are slightly wide and bind madly on the knuckles. I didn’t fit them within a sensible amount of time after I bought them so never bothered to complain but it was enough to put me off another set and it’s well known RC4WD can be hit n miss.

The TTR ones are what I’d recommend every day of the week.
Maybe @87lc2 might be able to weight in with some Clod experience.

Been researching stuff to build my first quad and apparently there's a tiny fitment issue with the RC4WD versions in that you have to carefully drill the hub so the bearing recesses a little deeper into the hub... without drilling all the way through. Might not be an issue if you're using aftermarket hubs however. Stumbled across it in a random video in the YouTubes somewhere...

Been researching myself and so far clipped the following info to help with another clod build:

One would argue the cheapest solution is to start with the fabtastic Hobbywing 880 ESC, which is an awesomely-priced dual motor brushed ESC that can handle up to 4S LiPo power.  Run 2x 12T motors on 2S, 2x 18T motors on 3S or 2x 24T motors on 4S.

RCWD Front CVDs (there's a tiny fitment issue with the RC4WD versions in that you have to carefully drill the hub so the bearing recesses a little deeper into the hub... without drilling all the way through. Might not be an issue if you're using aftermarket hubs however)

Thunder Tech Front CVDs and straight axle kit for the rear

35t motors on 3s works great in a Clod.  You'll have more speed than the stock silver cans and a bit more torque as you said.  I run 45t motors in one of my trail Clods on 3S and it works great.  Plenty of torque to get over/through obstacles and still enough wheel speed when needed.

If you want a decently quick Clod without going brushless 15t motors with stock pinions on 3s is a good way to go.  Don't bother running 15t motors on 2s, not enough torque and it will be slow.  Gearboxes will be just fine, Clod gears are tough.  You need to be running dual brushless under 3s to do any damage, and even then they usually hold up just fine.

No problem, happy to help.  If you're keeping the truck mostly stock I would recommend sticking with the 4WS setup.  With a good servo and a longer horn it will do just fine.  Even on my heavily modded Clodbusters I stick with 4WS, the only trucks that I run 2WS on are dedicated race trucks.  I like to run a servo on each axle, but if you're keeping it mostly stock then you'll be fine with the center mounted servo.

4PV Radio is good for duel ESC

I've never used the CPE wideners, but many people do.  It will make the truck a bit more stable but in my opinion it looks terrible with wideners.  Takes the Clod from looking like a scale monster truck to looking like a 1/8 truggy, just not my thing.

The best way to widen a Clod nowadays is to get a set of aftermarket wheels.  The Proline Brawlers come in +17.5mm offset and even better the JConcepts Tribute wheel comes with three different offset adapters.  I would recommend the Tribute wheels, most scale looking monster truck tire on the market plus you get three width to choose from.

On this one I used 103 mm (when I remember right) cheap chinese shocks and added a little stiffer springs. But they are to short for the stock setup. They work good with 4 link setup and selfmade shock mounts. I also sealed the tires, to keep the air inside. This gives you this classic monster truck bouncing/hopping but isn't recommended if you go for high speeds.

Grey Clod/Grey wheels with white beadlock?

RC4WD ignitor wheels are true beadlocks and JC Concepts hubs work with them

MCI ICE monster decals

Crawler Innovations Deuces Wild Single Stage Closed Cell

JC Concepts golden year tires and tribute wheels

No foams in the tires can work well

Traxxas bigfoot 1 roll bar for use on JC Concepts Chevy Lexan body

Arch fab and machine (USA) servo mount bumpers

Polish the shock shafts

Make sure the rubber stoppers in the shocks in the forward and rearward most positions are slightly shorter. If the shocks bottoms out on the outer shocks it will break the ball studs off

Silicone ear plug in rear diff

303 tires to soften them

Use 13tooth mod .8 pinion. 32p is not the same as mod .8 and will be louder. Pinion #500013403 Carson

Definitely the TTR shafts! I should get some myself. I'm running JConcepts gold year tires.... and I'm almost certain I'm about to break a stock shaft!

They are $127 on flea bay though...

I'm going to have to look elsewhere.... Around here, EvilBay is robbing us blind since the last US "policy update". 🙄  I'm sure they're out there, lots of us modify Clods! 😉

TTR has to still sell direct, right?

I've been using the stock axles shafts for years, never had one break, but also I don't have crazy steering angles to stress the joints, just too much power sometimes.
