Black Friday 2024 UK Deals

Recommended Posts

Thought I would start this up for those wonderful deals heading our way over the next few weeks. Be careful out there as I am seeing plenty of “deals” going up which are clearly not deals! I will try and keep anything good that comes up in this thread added below and will remove them if they sell out or change.

DEALS

Here are a couple of great deals I have noticed this week:

Not Black Friday specifically but interesting to see that the Rising Fighter is back to £65 including an ESC.

One of the lowest prices I have seen for the MB01 Fiat Abarth 1000. I know this chassis has received mixed reviews but tempting at £130.

Not just Black Friday deals, but great offers on a few Tamiya kits at the moment.  Similar prices are available at other shops too, but I think Neil at Time Tunnel Models currently has the lowest.

Astute 2022 TD2 at £145: https://www.timetunnelmodels.com/live/catalog/tamiya-58697-astute-2022-custom-without-special-price-p-69007.html

Super Avante TD4 at £169: https://www.timetunnelmodels.com/live/catalog/tamiya-58696-super-avante-custom-without-special-price-p-68675.html

Saint Dragon without ESC at £89 (a Tamiya HW1060 ESC can be added as part of the ordering process for £15) : https://www.timetunnelmodels.com/live/catalog/tamiya-47459-saint-dragon-roader-without-custom-deal-bundle-radio-controlled-model-special-price-p-68813.html

The best deals seem to be with Tamiya USA. It's a shame they're not being matched this side of the pond, or that they don't ship outside the US. I'd have jumped at a couple of them.

I'm looking at something non-Tamiya on Amain but it's not a 'blowout' Black Friday price. Most of the UK shops appear to be offering 'amazing' Black Friday deals that are just a few percent off RRP, which works out more expensive than the normal retail price at the most competitive shops. One or two are offering good prices on a couple of the less popular models (such as the Land Cruiser Quadtrack) but that's about it. :(

@Siclick33

I have been really disappointed with some of the offers which is why I put this topic up to try and capture some of the genuine good deals. Seems they are really hard to come by this year!! I was hoping for something a little better but it seems that the usual offenders are offering usual prices under a Black Friday sale banner. Be careful out there RC shoppers 👍🏻

I find myself a little tempted after my bang for buck Boomerang. Perhaps I could give this similar treatment.

Are all the Dragon models about the same?

Mostly, yes. All 3-shock cars have original CVAs, as do the 4-shock Fire Dragon and Terra Scorcher, the Saint Dragon has CVA2s. Only the Terra Scorcher has bearings, turnbuckles and a rear stabiliser. Tall gearing makes them a good option for brushless if that's your bag.

All should also be built with a steel pinion and an A5 brace :)

The two FTs were in early sales before Black Friday for whatever reason. I grabbed both. They were on my shopping list when I go to RCMart next year but for £20 or so difference, it is better to get them here instead of trying to pack big heavy boxes and FT boxes are big and heavy! Now I freed up the equivalent space and weight to buy 5 or 6 chassis only kits when I am there.

Interesting. Personally, I think I prefer CVA2s anyway. My Boomerang has 1s - the screwed on spring cups I find bothersome and they don't take ball joints. So of all the Dragon chassis this might even be my preference. Not sure I really want to add another car to the fleet at this point but this is one heck of a deal.

Sorry - the Dragon series with CVA1s have the older style bodies but the spring cups are slot-on like CVA2s.  This is how the originals were in the 80s too  :)

MCI and TBG have 25% off everything and I see you can now combine them for postage. I haven't ordered yet but I will do, and cross my fingers on import duty. That's a midge more than their usual holiday weekend discounts I think.

JC Racing is a good shop for their own aftermarket wheels and a few other bits and bobs and they have small discounts off a lot of stuff that weren't there before, so I think that counts as a bit of the black Fridays too.

Well, I pulled the trigger from Amain in the US, as I couldn't find any good deals here in the UK. I had a couple of kits in my basket and was trying to decide whether to buy or not, and then a deal popped up where the first 100 orders over $400 would receive a free Maverick 1/18 RTR Truggy. That was a deal I couldn't turn down!

Hopefully that means that my order was already cheaper than UK prices in the first place, then came with 10% off for Black Friday, and then included a free Truggy!

L&L models in the UK has just listed a few of their bodies with 15% off. Details are on their Facebook page.
